Intellectual Whites Continue To Laud Junot Diaz's Authentic Dominican Experience

oscar.wao.12.11.07.jpg

Junot Diaz won a National Book Critics Award! We couldn’t be prouder if we’d written it ourselves. In fact, we’d be ashamed if we’d written it ourselves, but that’s our issue. The kids over at Gawker who literally hate everything, file Junot and every little fart noise he makes under “Things We Actually Like.” Meanwhile, we’re heading back to undergrad to perhaps finally grasp what it is we’re missing. Also! From just across the island in Haiti, Edwidge Danticat also won a National Book Critics Award for Brother, I’m Dying, which is a nice awww moment for those two countries.

Yaay for Junot and Edwidge Danticat, who won for best autobiography…Hispaniola’s running tings!

Aside from some guy mom used to date, Junot was the first Dominican I met and liked…I stalked him for an interview back when DROWN came out, jealous he was hailed as the next Henry Miller. Yeah, right. Sure. I’m still trippin on the Spanish version: NEGOSIOS, in Dominican. What’s dat about?

@Cacy: I’m sure you’re a lovely person, but you must work on your cv. It’s cute, but I’d suggest making it more professional. Best of luck to you.

It’s too bad that Guanabee can’t be happy for an hermano who has achieved so much critical success.

@homo-neurotic: This isn’t your average Latino blog. Heavens no! The kind of adulation you speak of isn’t in the Gawker Media handbook. Cindy Casares is here to insult and surprise. It’s the Gawker way! Now, please be a good sport and do the following: click on the google ads and digg as many posts as you can for Daniel. Thanks!

@Guana Bust A Nut: Guanabee is not owned by Gawker.
