Matt Gonzalez’s ex-girlfriend and “current confidante,” local San Francisco political activist Catherine Rauschuber (pictured here in happier times) is in Texas this week campaigning for Barry H. Obama. Yeeouch. That’s gotta sting with the heat of a thousand old flames, but M.G. is not faint of heart. In response to everyone in San Francisco’s non-stop accusations that he is only running for vice-president on Ralph Naders’ ticket because of his big, fat ego, he had this to say:
People say we’re being self-centered and egotistical - but in politics, everything is called egotistical. If you run for mayor, people say you’re being egotistical. If you decide you won’t run for mayor, people say you’re being self-centered and egotistical. Why should it be any different when you’re running for vice president against the two-party system?
You tell ‘em Matty. Also, a little bit of self-centeredness, especially in the hair maintenance department, never hurt anyone. We’re just saying.

I wonder if Bush is still paying Nader to campaign for Republican victories, or of McCain is writing the checks by now.

So I guess Matt is Cindy’s new crush. What happened to Chefrain (is that his name?)?
Anyhoo, it’s too bad (for Cindy) that Mexican American politicians like Matt tend to go for white girls. Remember Henry Cisneros? He cheated on his wife with some random white woman who wasn’t that attractive. Sometimes it just sucks to be a brown girl in this country. It’s ok, Cindy. Some day you’ll find your brown prince. Who knows. He may be a dish washer at one of your favorite NYC restaurants. Chin up, girl!

@ Busted Nutz
What does politics have to do with who you sleep with? How provincial of you!
Listen, it doesn’t matter what kind of flavr the prince comes as long as he comes (pun intended). Additionally, we can all haz many crushez, y que?
@ Cindy, I got your esquina, gurl.

@ GBAN: Well isn’t that a big plate full of double standard fresh from 1962. So it’s ok for a guy to praise, support and even drool over Jessica Alba, even though girls like her tend to date guys who are not Latino. But it’s not ok for us women to have a little fantasy crush/crushes of our own? Maybe you should pick your chin up and realize it’s two-thousand-and-freaking-eight.

@Guana- you are pathetic…

Wow, cholas sure do stick together. It’s scary.
@Janie A Go-Go: Did you even read this post? You asked, “What does politics have to do with who you sleep with?” That’s a question you should be asking Cindy. She brought up Matt’s ex-girlfriend. This post is all about spreading gossip. Also, what’s up with a phrase like “we can all haz many crushez, y que?” Um, have you thought about returning to community college? Don’t be afraid of a good education. You can’t live off welfare forever.
@Latin_Princess: Double standard? Where? I don’t see it? Is it hidden somewhere in Rebekah’s worn out vagina? I kid. I kid. And I apologize for bringing up Rebekah’s disgusting genitalia. So, Latin_Princess, my comment was directed at Cindy. And I never said that there’s anything wrong with having a crush. You can have a crush on a donkey for all I care. I just made an observation about Matt Gonzalez. Apparently, the guy dates white women. And, yeah, Jessica Alba dates white men. But that WASN“T my point! I don’t know what the big deal is. Again, my comment was for Cindy. If you want to defend Guanabee’s queen bee, then do it. Just don’t read too much into these things. It’s not the Gawker way (I’ve learned that from experience)! So … there’s no need to blow this out of proportion. It’s business as usual here at Guanabee. :)
@Rebekah: Awww, is that the best you can do? You’re so cute. Anyhoo, you post comments that single-handedly set women back a century or so. And I have nothing to say about that. It’s just sad. Now, why don’t you just run along and get banged from behind by some mysterious stranger in some dirty restroom.

guana-
you obviously hate women-rooting for hillary does not change that…
one last thing-“Also, what’s up with a phrase like “we can all haz many crushez, y que?” Um, have you thought about returning to community college?”
you are so terribly ignorant about lolcats, its a shame really, they are so cute…

good lord ladies. cat here, or i guess catherine, as the post above names me.
need i mention that love is not something that can always be analyzed and simplified through racial glasses? or that a woman is not defined by her s.o,? or vice versa? i respect matt for his courageous choice to do what he’s doing, although i don’t personally agree and support barack obama for president.
also, interestingly, i was never consulted by the authors of the sf chronicle coulumn to even check to to see if i was campaigning in texas for obama - or to verify the statement that matt and i still are close confidants . it’s not cool for a major newspaper (cough) to publish stuff that is clearly meant to twist the knife without consulting the pawn they are using to strike their political blows…
