A Huntington Beach waitress shared this picture with the internet. It’s a list of seating guidelines at a Mexican restaurant where she works. We didn’t know Mexicans prefer booths more than other people. Or that impatience is our cultural birthright. We thought that was just our family.
it’s not a race (it’s a social construct) [Passive Agressive Notes via]

my waitress friends also said we are shitty tippers…

I always tip at 18%… or maybe I am just a different type of latino…

Heck I tip at 20%. In NY.

20% here too. This is in Arizona so maybe it has something to do with being close to the border…

it’s like that old joke:
What’s the difference between Mexicans and canoes? Canoes tip.
(i’ve also heard it applied to lesbians)

WTF?? What restaurant is that from?? They may as well have added:
“Mexicans want to steal your job so don’t offer them an application with their chips and salsa.”

I totally get Mexicans now. Totally.

Errr… so what does it mean if I’m not Mexican and I do prefer a booth?

je suis mexicaine, et j’hais les “booths”, je voudrais une table svp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

And I hope by Mexicans they mean any latin person, and I’m glad they got it right this time. Yes, my party of 2 prefers the booth, ASAP, and altough my town’s restaurants have solved the tipping problem by already including 18% gratuity on the bill, I will still stiff you even for a minor infraction such as being ugly.

I tip 15% most of the time. 10% when I get shitty service, although I should leave nothing, but everybody has one of those days, so 10% is better than nothing. I tip up to 20% if the service was really good, had a laugh, it’s a waiter/waitress I know, waitress was hot, etc. My mom has cash, if we go to a buffet she never tips. Waiters at buffets sometimes work harder because they got to do bussing all day. When I go down south to Mexico, tipping somebody at a mom’n’pop joints, taquerias, paleteria, etc is like you become their idol and treat you better than snobs working at fancy establishments.
