<description>Guana is right. Brazil, is at best, mixed. In the North, you've got Afro-Portuguese (think Pelé), in the South, you've got what might as well be Argentina (think Giselle). In the middle (Rio/Sao Paulo) you've got everything you might want. And I guess the majority falls in between.

And here you have some ethnic diversity. I think Assad is of Lebanese descent. That's variety right?

Ok, you're right. They're all white....

<description>This topic always makes me laugh. And, regarding your "real" Brazil post, it's kind of silly pointing out that Vanity Fair is only interested in a certain segment of the Brazilian population--the young, "white", and affluent. Hello!!! The magazine is called Vanity Fair for a reason! They once explicitly stated that they're were most interested in the "brilliant, beautiful, rich, and/or talented." They celebrated ostentation, idle amusement, and frivolity. That was in the first half of the 20th century. In recent times, they've done a MUCH better job of hiring exceptional writers and improving content, but that won't change the nature of the magazine. You’ll just have to deal with the fact that people who look white prefer seeing pretty pictures of other HOT white people doing . . . um, stuff.

If you want to see the "real" Brazil, then I suggest you try National Geographic. They LOVE posting pictures of ugly ethnic people, which I fully support, by the way.

<description>Not all Brazilians are of Afro-Portuguese descent. Many in Brazil are descendants of European immigrants (from countries like Italy, Germany, Spain, and others). Most, it's been said, are mixed, as Brazil is very tolerant of interracial relationships. Most European immigrants settled in Southern Brazil. Although many (or most) Brazilians have adopted the Afro-Portuguese culture, there are a large number of Brazilians who do not consider themselves black, Portuguese, or Afro-Portuguese.

<description>I have been on a personal crusade against the fetishization of Brazilians as these "hot" people with "the most beautiful language in the world" for years.

"Hot" is code for "sleazy."
"Beautiful language" is code for "drunken Spanish with a stuffy nose."

Disclaimer: These are flagrant and irresponsible generalizations based on a sample size of n
