It became so intense that the producers of Star Search had a meeting and BANNED him from the lot. The only performance that he was allowed to attend was the finale. (He was sat near security)….

When it was down to the final contestants for Star Search was when he really started losing it. Jeff couldn’t bear to see David lose, so he started HARASSING the other contestants.

People need to realize that a lot of people are upset that David Archuleta is so loved by America and will use whatever means possible to try and discredit him. It happens all the time. I think these gossip rags need to show more integrity and not report obvious rumors and gossip that have no way of being verified.

It’s very sad when people buy in to tabloid trash. It’s common knowledge that Jeff was not banned from Start Search and that ne NEVER cornered or threatened Tiffany Evans. They had him back for the next season!!! All this crap about Jeff and his awesomely kind family bothers me and any decent journalist would have done some research instead of picking up this garbage! Also, if you really knew the Archuleta family you would know they are not controlling stage parents but they are loving and supportive of all their kids. The kids are happy, well adjusted kids. David shines, he has manners, and he is totally unassuming and it’s not because he is being forced to do it…Face it! It’s because the apple does not fall far from the tree!!!!!

No one is saying that Lupe is a problem. She’s not, and never has been. But anyone who has even spent five minutes with Jeff knows that he has huge anger problems, especially about David. The guy can’t control himself. So, either “Brett” is lying about knowing Jeff, or is Jeff himself.

Unfortunately, all snarkiness about Jeff is VERY TRUE. He has put so much pressure on David that those of us who actually KNOW them, can verify with total clarity that Jeff is truly the prototype of the “Stage Father from Hell”

Lupe, on the other hand, is a beautiful, loving, sweet mother who is home taking care of her other children while Jeff is left to dog his son from hour to hour and place to place.

The story on the net about Jeff’s hammering David and making him cry is absolutely true. We understand about tabloids and their desire to spread the dirtiest of stuff, but in this case, the news is really the news.

We so hope that the producers will get on to Jeff and get him out of the way. Jeff’s ugliness comes from the fact that David is the family’s meal ticket. Truly. And has been since he was a very young boy.

Re: any of you who might think that David’s innocence and sweetness are phony — well, if you knew him you would know that he is as he appears — genteel, kind, caring, and loving but under so much pressure that I hold my breath every day that he won’t implode.

I am simply too old for the task, but perhaps a couple of you others with comments could get together and create a diversion while another couple of you throw Jeff under a bus. He is just along to live vicariously through his son and push, push, push him to ever greater heights.

Unfortunately, I know that the ugliness of Jeff that as portrayed in the press is absolutely TRUE. David is the meal ticket and so must be pushed, pushed, pushed. Think “Daddy Dearest” and you’ve got a pretty good picture.

We can hardly wait until David is of age and can emancipate himself from Jeff. Again, Lupe is a delight but the exact polar opposite of Jeff. Think about it, here she is in Utah holding down the fort while Jeff is strutting about being “David’s Dad” and creating mischief wherever he is. Give me a break! He’s a creepazoid (I don’t even know if that’s a word). What I have written is true, comes from my grandmotherly side, the side that just wants to protect David from Mr. Over-Bearing.

Could really care less to judge Jeff - I do know that through the TV screen, David is a kind and gentle young man with GREAT potential in his life. If any of you are true friends of Jeff - this much stress in a young boy (yes, David is still a child) - does he love his son enough to back off, or else see his son lose out to drugs, alcohol or God forbid suicide. You may sit and think these are really grave statements - but if this kid ever fails, devestation does some terrible things to the spirit of a person. I pray that if these rumors are true - I say rumors because I have not witnessed them myself, Jeff will LOVE his son above his (Jeff’s) selfish ambitions. God bless…

Where was David’s dad, Jeff born? City and state if someone has it.

At least David is nearly 18 so when he makes it big he will be able to direct his own career and finances and Dad can sit and spin

The dad is sort of freakish. He can be seen in various backstage shots, donning a stupid hat and even goofier expression. The fact he doesn’t take his hat off indoors is a very telling sign: rude, inconsiderate and selfish.

Obviously not as nice as some think. Otherwise, why would Idol ban him?

CB: the word allegedly is actually used not just in tabloids or in sketchy incidents but is an extremely common tool in ANY kind of reporting. this is because, as journalists, you are held liable to report only on the facts. so, unless something has been PROVEN true, in the same context of a court of law, etc, then when writing ANY news story you are required to make clear that it has not been legally proven, thus the word allegedly or any type of synonym is used in reference to the incident.
so, the use of the word allegedly in this case does not necissarily prove that this talk is tabloid trash.

anyway, if this is truly the case, i feel so sorry for that boy. he has such an amazingly good heart, and he seems so very genuine. one of my closest friends is actually in a similar position, and believe me it is in no way the easiest thing to break free of those who use and abuse you, ESPECIALLY if it is someone who you care about and are close to, like a parent. its much easier said than done, so to the person who said david needs to “grow some balls” and step away from his father should keep this in mind. it is so sad that, in this day and age, many children are forced to make horrible treatment bearable and face tough situations so early in life, against those very people who should be your loving support and shelter from cruelty. The fact that he has a great heart and seems to be bearing it all as well as he is is a testament to itself. so, i truly hope that he can hold on there until the time comes that he can break free from his overbearing father, if this is the case. I have to remind myself that David is 17. He comes across as a 12 year old. He certainly doesn’t appear to be the worldly character one would expect of a young guy who has travelled and experienced many things (he has been at this singing thing for a long time). The music biz is going to eat him alive. Maybe he needs a father like Jeff to keep the wolves away. Of course the AI producers don’t like anyone who interferes with the product that they are trying to launch.

REALLY NOW!!! Would this information bring you to laughter? Why? Some distorted view you hold!!

Only when one feels insecure does one wish unhappiness on others. Somehow that seems to make us feel better… kind of like gossip, tearing another down for our own approbation.

I, for one, wish David Archuleta MUCH success and happiness. Yes, he may be young and inexperienced. Isn’t that refreshing!!! Hopefully the music world won’t eat him alive, and hopefully the public won’t do it either with comments as you made.

philip, i’m gonna guess the little guy acts, behaves and has the mannerisms of a 12 year old prepubescent BECAUSE his dad is the way he is. But I imagine his father justifies his actions by using your reasoning. “I’ve screamed at my child, embarrassed him by harassing other children in front of him, made him cry in recording sessions, and now the little guy is emotionally stunted so i have to be even more overbearing than i was before to protect him.” What’s even more sad than buying into this tabloid trash? Disregarding it despite legit media reports that say the dad is an asshole (rolling stone & mtv both reported that the father started screaming at his son to pick second after winning the coin toss causing everyone to just sort of stare in disbelief). Producers and people working the sound board have also corroborated the story of the dad in the studio (AI participants do recording during the week).
