Looks like Jessica Alba and her The Love Guru co-stars, Justin Timberlake and Mike Myers, might be coming under fire for offending Hindus. Paramount Pictures is conducting a test screening for a few Hindu leaders to see whether they find Mike Myers speaking in a funny accent while in brownface to be somewhat problematic:

Jessica Rovins, the film’s publicist said: “It is our full intention to screen the film for Hindu leaders in the US once we have a finished print.”

Lila D. Sharma, President of India Heritage Panel, released a statement asking the filmmakers to “secure clean chit from Hindu leaders before [the film's] June release”.

Hollywood is nothing if not a load of chit.

Sharma added that the film could create negative stereotypes: “Hollywood is trying to make money by laughing at our holy men.”

That’s just not true. Hollywood is trying to make money by raping babies. Making fun of your holy men was just for fun.

I love how only Mike Meyer’s name is on the poster…doesn’t Alba claim that she’s a big Hollywood actress who has the power tho “greenlight” productions? What happened here?

@este_es_mi_nombre: I love how you (and others) rush to judge Jessica without even bothering to consider what this film is about. Actually, this film is all about Mike Myers. As in Austin Powers and Wayne’s World, Love Guru is based on a character he created as part of a comedy routine, performed to limited audiences throughout the states and Canada. Justin and Jessica play supporting roles. And it’s not surprising that Mike Myer’s name is on the poster. . . HELLO! He wrote the screenplay, plays the main character, and he’s producing this film. Do you need more reasons?

How about watching the film before you start bashing it? Yikes! I’ll probably buy the DVD so that 10 years from now I can show my kids how movies were before the pc nazis neutered all forms of media because somewhere someone is going to be offended.
