Meet the Lucios. Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. (D- District 27) and Texas State Representative Eddie Lucio III (D- District 38), or “Little Eddie” as we used to call him when he was a kid. You see, the Lucios are not just public servants, they’re also Cindy’s cousins. And they’ve been in the paper a lot lately because one of them, Eddie Junior, endorses Hillary Clinton. While his son, Eddie III, supports Barack Obama. Just like the demographers said they would! Last week they were on CBS with Katie Couric. Cindy was so proud. Until Senator Lucio made a “sexist” joke about how his wife better vote Hillary (a woman, obvs) into office because he pays the mortgage. Meta! Then Katie Couric called him on it. Then Cindy held her breath. Then Senator Lucio said he was only joking and his wife has worked since she was 19. Then Cindy wished they didn’t put the Rio Grande Valley on national television sometimes. And also she wished she could reach into that video and grab a large flour tortilla with beans cooked in salt pork, but then she realized that there isn’t a bean burrito in the world big enough to cover up Katie Couric’s reproach.

hey he’s kinda cute. is ed jr. jr. single?

Cindy, you never told us you were RGV royalty! Kindly give the elder Lucio a punch in the face and give the younger one my number, he’s hot!!!

I swear, everyone in the RGV is related to everyone, its always somebody’s cousin or something.
I call every Mexican in NYC “cousin”, that’s the only way I get extras at the deli and its always “Primo, me trae mas agua por favor” at the restaurants or “Prima, le echa mucho chile por favor” at the Mexi joints on Bedford Ave.
@ Cindy, Well, at least its getting some press about the RGV that doesn’t involve La Virgen, Spring Break or the high cost of curanderos.

@mare: He mentioned in the clip that he’s married. Sorry!
@aydiosmio: RGV royalty? You’re kidding right?
Ok, let me start with some compliments for the Lucio family. The younger Lucio (III) did a good job—he gave good answers, and one gets the impression that he’s a fine young man. Oh, but then there’s the bad! I know I shouldn’t say what I’m about to say, but I’m just going to throw it out there anyway:
If Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. is RGV royalty, then that’s sad. I mean, the guy doesn’t sound very educated. And don’t tell me it’s a Texas thing because I’ve met VERY educated Texans.
