Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard that Tejanos get to decide today who will be our next president. The state of Texas has begun its presidential primary and, according to polls, the Democratic vote is completely split between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. That’s where Texas hispanics come in because this year more Tejanos than ever turned legal voting age:

[A]bout a third of the state’s eligible Hispanic voters are 18 to 29. “If they turn out in bigger numbers than they have in the past, it could be a real turning point. It’s this very large and growing untapped pool,” said Roberto Suro, a founder of the Pew Hispanic Center and a journalism professor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication.

Nail biter! But just how many voters is that?

Almost 25% of eligible voters in Texas are Latinos, the second-largest Hispanic eligible voter population share nationally. (New Mexico ranks first with 38%.) Nearly 8.4 million Hispanics reside in Texas, 19% of all Hispanics in the United States. There are 3.6 million eligible Hispanic voters in Texas, 20% of all U.S. Hispanic eligible voters.

Oh. My. Dios. Quite the responsibility on your shoulders, kids. First George Bush, now this. It’s like Texas is fated to steer America into its inevitable doom or something. Anyways, get out and vote and send us a picture of your ballot from inside the booth and we’ll post it here.

Oh, and Ohio also has its primary today with a large cache of delegates, but only 1.5% of their voters are Hispanic, so fuck them. Just KIDDING. (Vote Hillary. Shhh.)

BTW, did anyone see Hillary’s televised Town Hall meeting last night? For those of you not in Texas, Eva Longoria hosted on stage with Hillary looking hot and conservative for once.

I don’t believe all the Obama stuff. However, I don’t believe any political candidate does (or can) exhibit his/her true self. Nor are they, or their advisors, completely honest about intentions. I can only imagine that the JFK campaign bore some kind of resemblance to the excitement people are exhibiting now towards Obama and even Hillary.

I don’t believe in this “Groupie”, “Get one too” rhetoric some of the commenters are spewing. But, it’s your opinion. I’m probably voting democrat, because one or the other, Hillary or Obama, it will be a break from the norm.

eva longoria supports hillary clinton? where’s the snark? i guess that’s one way for you guys to not mock her — but I’m guessing the moratorium lasts only through election day. politics indeed makes strange bedfellows.
