Citizen Journalist/Loser With No Plans Tonight Needed To Capture Historic Crowning Of Daddy Yankee As Harvard’s Latino Of The Year
26 April 2008, 2:20 PM. By Guanabee Staff
Member when we told you the “Latin presence” at Harvard otherwise known as Presencía Latína is honoring Ramon Ayala aka Daddy Yankee aka pervy mcperv as Harvard’s Latino of the year? Kind of unbelievable, huh? You know what would help us all come to terms with this mortification? If one of you would go down there tonight and take a bunch of pictures (or video!) and send it to us along with a report of all the dirty details. So put your journalist hats on, aspiring Guanabees and click the image at right for a look at the official invite. We’ll even reimburse you the entry fee if you get a close-up shot of Jaslene Gonzalez’ clavicle–or better yet, a pic of her eating! Google Map link featured after the yump. Oh, and congratulations, Daddy.

This award strikes me as a bit odd…but then so does most of what goes in the world today.
wtf. daaddy yankee??? and jaslene is always photographed eating mcD’s so this makes no sense
it sucked. teh show start was pushed to eight to let daddy “take a nap” (eso es lo que me dijeron) and he still didnt show up on time. the show started without him, some of the performers were mediocre at best, crowd wasnt very excited. daddy shows up after the first act of the second half… yeah, it sucked.
Por suckers who attended the event, who buys his music and who thinks he should receive such an award, shame on Harvard for lowering their standards and to us for thinking a cheeseball rapper could elevate our communities and hearts…
it was AMAZING and both him and jaslene were really cute and endearing. man there are so many haters out there.
Was Diego/soledadenmasa there? As much as I hate Daddy Yankee and the fact that Harvard is giving him an award, I have to say that the words “Presencia” or “Latina” do not have accents, OK? It’s making my brain bleed, please remove them. Do you want to be responsible for some Guanabee-induced cerebral hemorrhage?
I’m really, really hoping this is some big joke. Really hoping. Are the only Latinos at Harvard the clueless, self-hating kind? Is the Chinese students’ club giving an award to Jackie Chan? Is the African students’ club giving an award to Akon? Is the British students’ club awarding Pete Doherty? Didn’t think so. But let’s look at the bright side, at least it’s not Carlos Mencia or Rosie Puh-Rays.
CoaSR,
Same here.
E_E_M_N,
I was there, but as a performer. My act opened the second half of the show and I spent the first half backstage getting ready and chatting with other performers. I left the event after I performed because I was dead tired and wanted to sleep. The only things I do know happened were that the start time was pushed back to eight (I was also told it was so he could rest) and that he showed up at the end of my performance.
I checked and the “accents” in Presencia Latina are due to the font chosen.
I have to make this distinction: Presencia Latina in no way represents Harvard University or any of its affiliates. It’s an organization of Latino students at Harvard who organize this once a year event and this award is handed out by the Presencia Board to whom they believe will be able to make it to the event. I am not part of the Presencia Board, but I do know the board members. I do not know the criteria used to honor an artist. This award is not a joke, however, like the Harvard Lampoon’s awards. This award is dead serious, no matter how nonsensical it seems.
