Latinos Agree To Put Aside Their Inherent Racism For One Week To Worship Barack Obama

Gaggle of oxymorons, “Latinos for Obama,” have organized a week to set aside their deep, inborn hatred of black men and campaign for Barack Obama::

Amigos,
On the week of April 13th, Latinos across the country are planning low dollar fundraisers nationwide to support the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama. During this”Semana Latina”, Latinos nation-wide will say in one collective voice - Sí se puede por Obama.
Will you be adding your voice?

Sorry amigos, but we’ve got laryngitis that week.

Has Barack Obama tongued a taco to show his solidarity with Latinos in a photo-op friendly fashion? No. Can he explain big, scary issues in a way that Latinos can easily grasp through the use of that most culturally sound of inter-ethnic social lubricants, guacamole? No. A man who is not willing to embarrass himself with inappropriate behavior involving food, frankly, does not deserve our consideration.

Sorry Barry….I think most latinos will be busy fighting off racism and discrimination themselves that week to jump on that bandwagon. Perhaps latinos should have mentioned in your “oh so holy” race speech.

Hey, JROD how come you missed this in Obama’s speech? “The profound mistake of Reverend Wright’s sermons is not that he spoke about racism in our society. It’s that he spoke as if our society was static; as if no progress has been made; as if this country - a country that has made it possible for one of his own members to run for the highest office in the land and build a coalition of white and black; Latino and Asian, rich and poor, young and old — is still irrevocably bound to a tragic past.”

And This: “Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, “Not this time.” This time we want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children and white children and Asian children and Hispanic children and Native American children. This time we want to reject the cynicism that tells us that these kids can’t learn; that those kids who don’t look like us are somebody else’s problem. The children of America are not those kids, they are our kids, and we will not let them fall behind in a 21st century economy. Not this time.”

“This time we want to talk about how the lines in the Emergency Room are filled with whites and blacks and Hispanics who do not have health care; who don’t have the power on their own to overcome the special interests in Washington, but who can take them on if we do it together.”

Maybe if you stop talking out the side of your neck and PAY ATTENTION, you’d see what “Barry-O” (get it? barrio?) was sayin….

Hey, cacy, how come you missed the fact that Obama is a walking contradiction? He claims that he’s the only one who can bring change and unity to this country, but he was (and still is) a member of a church that believes the exact opposite. THAT’S the issue. And we ARE paying ATTENTION. Before this whole ordeal, Obama made it clear that Wrigth was his spiritual mentor. And we all know what kind of person Wright is (and he has every right to be that way, of course). The problem is that Obama can’t have it both ways. He can’t spend (a significant amount of) time at church hanging out with a mentor who has very divisive ideas and also claim that he’s the candidate who’s going to bring this country togeter (whatever that means). Seriously, WTF? If he wins the nomination, he just handed the Republicans the greatest weapon they’ll need to bring him down. Democrats are already considered the more un-American party of the two. Obama will take that to the next level.

Also, Obama is a very effective speaker, but I wasn’t moved by his speech. It was intended for, you know, those “typical” white people Obama is trying to take from Hillary. He’ll have to do better than that if he wants my support.

thanks to justin for the photo credit, but the owners of the blog should have put it in the post from the start.
