Anyone who lives in Austin knows SXSW is for tourists and the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which occurs in September, is for locals. So every music nerd in Austin has their tweeters in a woof today for a mashup that local artists Car Stereo (Wars), [Ed: Hipster parentheses theirs.], released featuring all 130 performers scheduled to fill out the 2008 line-up. The release comes eight days before the artists are officially announced on ACL’s website and it’s their creative little way of making you work for the information. Like standing in 98º heat with no cover for two days during the festival isn’t work enough. Somewhere between The Raconteurs “Steady As She Goes,” (yay!) and another song that we can’t quite name that’s on the tip of our freaking tongues, is Manu Chao’s “Me Llaman Calle.” Get your patchouli ready, Tejano boys!

Sweet! I noticed some N.E.R.D. in there as well. I would think Car Stereo (Wars) is in as well?

Insulting Manu Chao? No wonder so very few of us on the left coast are reading this blog.
You all need to get some diversity on your staff, the voices and snarky comments all sound like they’re written by the same person. Just my attempts at being helpful.

What’s so insulting? The part about the nineties? Or the patchouli?

Sacate la arena de la chocha, el que sea cierto no significa que sea un insulto.

late 90’s? Manu = now - the man is touring all over Europe and Latin America this year. Americans can be so ignorant - 2008 is the year for Manu - have you even heard the latest album, La Radiolina?

I volunteer every year for ACL. Work a few hours with the kiddos, then get free access to the fest the rest of each day you work. Heck yeah. Manu will be fun to see in person.
