Some Christian organization, “Our Eyes Are Open” Ministries, is apparently in a tizzy over talk show host and new Messiah Oprah Winfrey’s blasphemous heathen ways. You know, we had noticed that Oprah seems to love New Age crap. But she also seems to make cream cheese in her capri pants over cashmere scarves, diet fads and fake memoirs. Basically, Oprah gets really, really excited over things we will personally never find interesting, relevant… or remotely affordable. Frankly, until the day she gives us a Free! Car!, we don’t much care if Oprah worships a potato chip bearing her likeness.

Ok. So, this is a Latino in America (USA) based blog. Latinos tend to have really strong religious ties, stereotypically Catholic. Hence a report on Oprah’s New Age beliefs, and their bashing by devout church goers, is relevant.
Did I get all the connections correct?

It’s also a news and entertainment blog. Whatever category this particular post falls into is up to the reader, ultimately. You might notice we tend to cover non-Latino news (Aliza Shvarts, Thomas Beatie, Victoria Lindsay) from time to time.

But even more significant, Oprah is our nation’s higher power—Oprah transcends race, color, and creed and brings us together as one (at least from 4pm to 5pm EST)

I dig Oprah because she is sometimes the only person powerful enough to get interviews like Cormac McCarthy, Shawn Hornbeck, Whitney Cerak and even Thomas Beatie. (Even though Beatie turned it into a book sale, unlike McCarthy.)
I could care less about what lotion Oprah likes, what company donated crap to the audience, or what kind of weirdo religion she is into. That fluff doesn’t interest me. But you get Dr. Oz on stage talking about kidneys and poo and I’m all ears.

I’m actually a teacher of some of the “stuff” that Oprah is all excited about, and I happened to find the YouTube you linked when I was on YT the other day. It’s funny how they’re not actually making anything up…most of the things they “accuse” Oprah of are accurate…they’re just not blasphemous, imho.
But when you add that sinister voice and all the spin, it sounds like the end of the world. Actually, I’m pretty glad that “the largest church in the world” is paying attention to this kind of message.

I just loved in the video how the ominous voice discusses Marianne Williamson and her efforts to establish a Dept. of Peace as somehow evidence of something evil???? I guess some believe George Bush and his liberal use of our Dept. of Defense (WAR) represents GOD, so anyone promoting peace would certainly be one of Satan’s warriors.
