People Magazine Pregnant Man Pictures Reveal Thomas Beatie Used To Be A Hot Chick

People magazine’s infamous pregnant man issue is out and Thomas Beatie didn’t even make the cover. No, Heath Ledger, who liked to father children the old-fashioned way, took that honor. Proving that maybe a pregnant man isn’t all that shocking, after all? But there is a five page feature on Beatie and his wife Nancy who are expecting a baby in 4 months. Amongst other things, we learn that Beatie is a black belt in karate, can bench 255 lbs (go, butch!) and is told he looks like Mario Lopez. [Ed: Carlitos?!] But perhaps the most interesting thing to us is that Thomas Beatie, in his former life as Tracy, was hawt! So hot, in fact, that Tracy was a finalist in a Miss HawaiiTeen USA beauty pageant. All the pics of hot Tracy and pregnant and not too shabby looking Thomas are after the jump.

i think this is just a case of “when being a transperson isn’t enough”. i think it’s incredibly fickle since carrying a pregnancy is actually a very definitively female function.
i do feel sorry for the kid, assuming he/she survives to full term. if even the child should complete gestation and birth without defects, the child’s life will never be completely healthy. people haven’t even mentioned the issue of the child possibly wanting to know who his/her actual biological father is… since his/her father will be her mother and her “mother” will be a step-mother or adopted mother. just insane.
Just got done watching thomas & nancy appearance on “oprah” & I am happy for the two of them. I agree, who is to say a man can’t have a baby. A baby is created with love, & if 2 people love each other(no matter what gender) they should have a child. It is the same thing as for adoption.

I doubt this kid is going to have too many issues. It’s not like the 50’s where homosexuality and being trans-gender was totally inconceivable. There are enough older children of homosexual parents to attest to it probably being a non-issue. The kid will probably be confused if he/she finds out at too early of an age. But I remember being 5 and thinking men had boys and women had girls.

I’m not exactly sure what to think about all this. I can understand both sides to the argument. I am in the medical profession so I am concerned with the medical aspect of this as well as being a mom of two and wondering about the child’s mental and emotional future. Having said all that, I am a Christian and I believe that God knows everyone before they are born, that each individual person is wonderfully made. This child is no different no matter who her parents are. I just hope that they are prepared to explain all this when her friends start teasing her about it as often times kids do. I will keep this family in my prayers. As for the people thinking all the negative thoughts, there really is enough negativity in the world already. My mom always told me that if I didn’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Also, it is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it. Remember that.

Someone wants to have her/his cake and eat it too! Not many folks get to do that. Oh well-live and let live. I work in a pediatric hospital where I see daily what living in a broken/disheveled home can do to a child. It isn’t pretty by no means. The abuse (physical/sexual) and neglect inflicted on these children is unbelievable and horrifying. That child will have his/her rough times just like every other child–but he/she has parents that will love him/her & guide it through those times.
Of course the “man” who is pregnant is really a woman. No amount of surgery can change the XX sex chromosomes within her. SHE was given mastectomies and pumped full of testosterone.
It makes me wonder about the SAFETY of the baby having had-and is still taking-anabolic steriods.

Okay folks, here’s a crash course in Transgender 101. Sometimes gender identity does not match a person’s biological sex, hence the experience of being transgendered. For example, Thomas had a female body and a male gender identity. Thomas now has a semi-male body and a male gender identity. Even though he decided to keep his female reproductive system, he still has a male gender identity. No matter what gonads he has, Thomas is male — period. Show some respect and stop referring to him as “lesbian,” “woman,” “female,” “she,” “her,” etc.
As for his pregnancy, he and his wife made this decision from a desire to have a child together. Sure, their method is unusual, but they still deserve respect. If you think about it, Thomas has more balls than most of us guys. He is demonstrating extraordinary courage amidst a wave of ignorance, judgment, hate, and criticism. I wish he, his wife, and his baby girl the love and support they all deserve at this time and in the future.
This is completely messed up. My aunt is a lesbian that had a son with her girlfriend and that little boy is not normal. We all love him, but his life is not normal. If this family wanted a kid so bad why didn’t they adopt. If he/she really thinks she’s a man, then why have a baby. This just proves that the whole gay/transgender thing is a bunch of crap. This child is going to be extremely confused about the facts of life, we as adults don’t understand why these people decided to exploit the female sex. A woman who chose the appearance/aftifical exterior of a man, just to decide that she wants to be a mother. Artifical insemination is not natural, as blatenly stated. It is a result of Science. Science is a product of free thinking, as the ability to think freely has been bestowed upon us by God. It is what makes us different than animals. (If animals ruled the Earth, as they once did, the planet would be in a much better condition.)So, with free thought comes great responsibility. Just because we have the ability to kill, steal, lie or cheat, dosen’t mean that we should. Afterall, if we all did what ever we wanted without any reguard for fellow man, or child, the world would be even more chaotic than it already is. The next interesting topic is the steroids. I wonder how much research has been done on the impacts of high doses of steroids on a fetus? Of all the parentless, unloved orphans in the world, why didn’t they adopt? What doctor decided that a baby was a good science project? Hope the money they received from all of their interviews and coverstories can cover the cost of lifelong therapy.

I believe that this individual was born with both male and female parts (yes, this does happen). The parents are the ones who usually decide which gender to raise the child. However, if they do not have the money or the means, surgeries cannot be done to remove the other parts and if they are, multiple surgeries are needed as the child grows older and older. Did anyone every stop to think that he had no choice if his parents had chosen to raise him as a female. It said he was Miss “TEEN” Hawii. Maybe when he became of age, he chose to be a man.
I truly believe that everyone needs to stop judging so harshly. It is God’s duty to pass judgement on each individual’s judgement day. So, move on and let them be!

But I did want to mention something that I left out,,,, as far as the “health” issue here as far as the steroids go- look they obviously had to consult in a doctor to get the sperm injected into his/her eggs. And they obviously must have been healthy enouph for one to be fertulized. Not only that but if they have the money to do all this than I’m also sure they’ve got a very knowledge able obgyn working with them constantly watching the baby helping it to be healthy and if it has any health issue’s than I’m sure they’ll deal with it accourdingly just as another pregnant woman would and has to when faced with certain issues. The thing I really don’t understand about alot of people is that they continually point out that Thomas used to be a woman, claim he will always be a woman, and then assume that the baby will be mutated because he lives as a man. He’s been off testosterone for years so that they could have this baby. His pregnancy is going smoothly, it’s totally normal, the baby is healthy. Why would you keep pointing out that he was a woman and continuously claim he still is and then rage about how their daughter is going to be mutated when all the medical facts are right there? By your standards, at the moment he’s physically a woman who has had a mastectomy. What is the big deal? (Not my view-I believe that he is a pregnant man, and I wish all the best to him and his growing family.)
And how do you figure the baby will be messed up by having two loving parents who genuinely want her? You assume that just because he’s trans. What proof do you have? Do you even have any idea what it is that messes kids up in the first place? It’s people having children for reasons other than the joy they can bring. Tax breaks, baby bonuses, an attempt at saving a marriage. Parents’ sexuallity does NOT mess up their child/ren, parents abusing eachother and/or the kid does. Parents neglecting the kid does. Parents teaching their kids hate messes them up, and I can honestly say a lot of people are acting pretty messed up about this.
And how is she going to be confused about the facts of life? If anything this little girl will be more educated on the matter than any of us were by the end of high school (which is not a bad thing, check out our teen pregnancy and STI rates). She’ll be taught and able to understand that not everyone is born the same, and that is not a bad thing. She won’t be freaking out over trans or intersexed schoolmates. She’ll have this crazy little thing called maturity. Apparently it’s a good thing.

I’m not sure what to think of the whole situation. On one hand you have a husabnd and wife that love each other. On the other hand you have a woman that became a man only to do a woman thing. I can understand wanting to have a child. I had to have a hysterectomy. That is a huge decision and it is a very difficult thing to go through. I think that if my husband would carry a child for me I would let him. It may not have been a choice for Nancy to have a hysterectomy like it was mine. I had a medical problem and I decided to have the dramatic thing done. It may have not been a decision for her. As far as Thomas goes, I don’t understand why you would have had the surgery but you did. No one can change that. If it helped you in your life then GOOD for you. Do what you have to in your life to better yourself. I admire that you care about someone that much that you would put yourself out there. To be judged, ridiculed, admired, it takes a lot of courrage. You spent so long being who you felt you are and then to go back, it takes some guts. Ok, we live in a world where we are finally coming to grips with some things that have been around for centries. We are celebrating, rather than condeming gays/lesbians. We are accepting of people, who like Mr Beatie, feel that the genetic make up of their body, doesnt define who they are or how they feel. I agree with all of this.
However, there are some things that are just way to much. That breach the boundaries of what is what. It seems once there was a clear line, there was blue and pink. That was it. Now we have light pinks, dark blues, puples, red, greens, yellows, whatever. But seriously, this seems to go beyond everything. Its just creepy and weird. Im not a god person, and wont say he is a “sinner” or something. But i do think that this is so wrong. It sort of takes everything that has pre-existed for centries. Creating weird thoughts of… well i dont know what. It seems farfetched, and seriously makes you wonder what the hell we are coming to. As well as poluting the environment, going to war, murdering and killing and all the bad shit in the world today. I think this shows the serious decline in morallity. Civilisation needs structure. One of the few things i cannot stand is when people try to condemn other people as “sinners” or “freaks” using “god’s word”. No one has any right to claim that they know god hates these people. If god truly is as the bible states in everyother line, then he loves this family just as much as anyother. If you want to know messed up children, just take a look at some of the foster care systems where children, born the “correct” way, are beaten, abused, neglected and so on. They were given birth to by a woman who was impregnated by a man, the “correct” or “normal” way, and yet look at where they are now. This child will grow up in a family with more love and care than any of the poor children in those foster care systems and i am sure that they could give a care less if they were given birth by a transgender.

When those situations occur with infants it is only with regards to the external organs, the infant would have no inner organs to support either gender. It would be an infertile male, with no funtion to produce sperm, or a female without a uterus/ovaries. If he was born a female, then there is nothing crazy or outlandish about the idea of him having a baby now. Yes it may seem a bit strange to most of us, perhaps sex changes seem strange to most of us. But the fact remains he was born a female, he has the female functional parts, and his wife cant carry a baby so he is going to do it. The surgery to remove all the baby-making insides of a woman is very extensive and invasive, and he obviously chose not to go through that. No matter what we think about transgender, or gay lesbian, or the fact HE is having a baby, it is still a normal function for a female human, this is what he was born with. Yes it is going to be difficult on the child as it grows up, and I am not sure why they would want to publicize themselves for that reason of making it MORE difficult on the child. But all any of us can do is pray for the child coming into this world, it is not going to be an easy life for her.

its crazy how many people dont realize how the comments they make on a simple blog can affect someone elses life and spark a feud. Butting into another persons lifestyle whether wanted or not is just adding wood to the fire. I personally am a pregnant female and i am in the 1st trimester so i have mood swings, puke all the time, am constantly nauseous, and wish my husband could do it instead, just to rid me of the headache. And he gets frustrated because he cant do much about it. for a long time i couldnt get pregnant, and now i finally am. Nancys husband wanted to do this for her like how my husband would if he could. Stop lumping all transgendered people in with Thomas. Most of us aren’t like him/her. Many of us believe Thomas lied to get testosterone because he flat out said he chose to keep his female reproductive organs just so he could have a child.
