Is this common among girls in school? Probably not as extreme, but has anyone had experiences with girl bullies?

I went to public schools for six years and I have never, ever seen anything like this in my life. Must be a white trash thing, or a Florida thing.

This really gets my blood boiling. Like Daniel Mauser mentioned, we all have had our experiences with bullies but this I believe is where it has gone too far. I think that this is completely wrong. To gang up on someone is totally cruel and to be completely honest if I knew these girls who beat her I would want to beat the shit out of them. This is totally inappropriate and it makes me feel ashamed to be a cheerleader because our duty is to bring spirits up, not to knock someone down because they said something “not so nice”. Lemme tell ya - as a teenager I was the smallest and the loudest, and I was beaten mercilessly by my (larger and meaner) fellow students. I had my head slammed into a garbage dumpster by 6 kids, boys and girls…was beaten with Lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks, shot with a bb gun, my life was a constant parade of swirlies, brutality and sadism.

Teachers couldn’t (or wouldn’t) help, my parents (consumed with their own wrecked relationships) were oblivious - I was alone.

Until…I met a judo and karate instructor who saw what was happening and gave me free lessons for about 2 years…When I was a senior in High School - nobody messed with me anymore - Why? Because I finally kicked the living crap out of the meanest most sadistic bully of them all - Thats what it took and thats what it takes - nothing less will suffice.

Now - Im ex-military, Ive studied 6 forms of martial arts and I am an expert with small arms. I don’t have fear today….but I remember it vividly as a pubescent teenager. I had more daily stress then than at any other time of my life, including my service.

Oh, come on now—I’m sure some of you Cholas (Cindy?) have engaged in this kind of violent behavior at one time or another. I was in San Diego last year and witnessed three Cholas kicking the crap out of another Chola. The cops were eventually called. On the youtube video it stated that there were two teenage boys standing gaurd outside, I’m guessing to make sure she didn’t get away. As an 18 year old male all I can say is that is about the most cowardly, despicable thing I have ever heard of in my life. Either one of them could have easily stepped in at any point and gotten that girl out of there, but neither did. To me that’s just as bad as if they were inflicting the beating themselves. Even worse because they’re guys.
I don’t know if those kids were charged with anything, but personally, if I were of any personal relation to Victoria, those are the punks I’d be after.

The actions portrayed by these young women make me dread putting my child in school…which will eventually have to happen. However, the fault isnt just the girls, it is the parents. When reading the comments here it seems pretty obvious what the problem is. Most of you (not all) feel that the punishment the 8 teenagers should get should be much more severe then the crime they commited. (death penalty, raped in prison , max jail time etc.) This seems to be typical in USA, you seem to have difficulties finding punishments that fit the crime, just as the cheerleeders who thought a hard beating was a just punishment for trash talking someone on Myspace.

I think the 8 teenagers should be punished but I would be looking at a more appropriate punishment.

This forum is a clear example of the core issue in this matter - First Amendment.

I do not have to agree with the person above who actually believes the young lady got what she deserved. I do not have to be happy with those who post remarks about having sex with these young women or beating on anyone. Really, my approval is irrelevant.

This is nothing new. Unless there was a hell of a lot more that happened to her, this is nothing by comparison to what I witnessed as a kid. I witnessed a dozen or more way worse beatings when I was in school in the 80’s, some with bats, boards, etc. Numerous beatings took place with dozens to even hundreds of students and sometimes coaches and teachers watching and doing nothing. The only difference is that no one had cameras, internet, youtube, etc. to show everyone and cause a national freak out.

I don’t know the whole story and none of you do, but all the people I witnessed get beaten back in the day had it coming and that was why everyone let it happen and just watched. Again not saying that is true here, but we should all try to learn more about it before making assumptions base on limited media BS and propaganda.

For someone who works at a middle school, you’re grammar and spelling are horrible. I call bullshit.

I remember being the victim of some girls at the bus stop using me for a punching bag. Everyone of the people present or who knew of this plot to attack this girl should be held equally responsible for the beating.

If any of these kids walk away from full responsibility because they did not touch the girl it will send a message that as long as you just watch or plot or plan you are innocent. These girls and the two boys should be used to set an example to any other teens who think its alright to batter or bully anyone.

I can’t understand how someone can just beat someone like that. I remember one time this kid wanted to fight me. I knew I could destroy him. So after school when I showed up to the fight he got scared. I didn’t have to do anything. I even felt bad for him. He started to cry. I wouldn’t have hurt him anyway. I was really just wanting him to leave me alone.

I saw the video of this girls assault and i have to say ive never been so disgusted in all my life. I however would not blame Youtube and Myspace. People have argued that this video was made by those girls to try and impress people or for fame or what ever. But how impresive is being sent to jail? The blame should be put where it belongs, on the girls who attacked that poor girl. I myself just graduated from high school and nothing like this ever occured in my town and we had myspace and youtube for most my time there.
