The teen beating video of young Victoria Lindsay has been released by the Poke County, Florida, Sheriff’s dept. The video depicts several girls beating Victoria over and over again, knocking her unconscious. The girls beat Victoria in retaliation over comments she had made on Myspace about one of the girls and taped the beating, planning to load it on Youtube. As a result, eight teenagers are now charged with third-degree felonies for battery and false imprisonment.

Is this common among girls in school? Probably not as extreme, but has anyone had experiences with girl bullies?
I went to public schools for six years and I have never, ever seen anything like this in my life. Must be a white trash thing, or a Florida thing.

This really gets my blood boiling. Like Daniel Mauser mentioned, we all have had our experiences with bullies but this I believe is where it has gone too far. Girls tend to very manipulative and do whatever they can to lift the blame off themselves. Most of the time, I’m not saying all the time. But these girls had no right. They deserve to be tried as adults and locked up. Maybe the inmates will teach them what a true beating is. God Bless Victoria Lindsay’s soul. I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery. Alright, I know this girl Victoria. This is so fucked up. I am in Florida and by the way we are not all trashy cheerleaders that like to pick on others just to make a video on a website that is not suitable for kids their age to even be on… Want to talk about trash… What about the doctor coming into the same part of the state this happened to meet another 15 year old girl…. If someone would get control of their kids and the internet, things like this would not be happening, someone should decide to be a parent at some point in time and control their wild kids…. I think that this is completely wrong. To gang up on someone is totally cruel and to be completely honest if I knew these girls who beat her I would want to beat the shit out of them. This is totally inappropriate and it makes me feel ashamed to be a cheerleader because our duty is to bring spirits up, not to knock someone down because they said something “not so nice”. There is no bright side to this, what-so-ever.
There is a lot of passion around this horrific incidence. Each of us has an obligation to do what is right. Take your passion to make a difference in this world. Pray that God will work in the lives of each of these individuals - Victoria, the girls & boys involved, the parents, the school system, the internet and our communities. I pray that this video be removed from all websites, computers. I urge everyone to not put Victoria thru anymore pain by the viewing of this video. Lemme tell ya - as a teenager I was the smallest and the loudest, and I was beaten mercilessly by my (larger and meaner) fellow students. I had my head slammed into a garbage dumpster by 6 kids, boys and girls…was beaten with Lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks, shot with a bb gun, my life was a constant parade of swirlies, brutality and sadism.
Teachers couldn’t (or wouldn’t) help, my parents (consumed with their own wrecked relationships) were oblivious - I was alone.
Until…I met a judo and karate instructor who saw what was happening and gave me free lessons for about 2 years…When I was a senior in High School - nobody messed with me anymore - Why? Because I finally kicked the living crap out of the meanest most sadistic bully of them all - Thats what it took and thats what it takes - nothing less will suffice.
Now - Im ex-military, Ive studied 6 forms of martial arts and I am an expert with small arms. I don’t have fear today….but I remember it vividly as a pubescent teenager. I had more daily stress then than at any other time of my life, including my service.
Oh, come on now–I’m sure some of you Cholas (Cindy?) have engaged in this kind of violent behavior at one time or another. I was in San Diego last year and witnessed three Cholas kicking the crap out of another Chola. The cops were eventually called. On the youtube video it stated that there were two teenage boys standing gaurd outside, I’m guessing to make sure she didn’t get away. As an 18 year old male all I can say is that is about the most cowardly, despicable thing I have ever heard of in my life. Either one of them could have easily stepped in at any point and gotten that girl out of there, but neither did. To me that’s just as bad as if they were inflicting the beating themselves. Even worse because they’re guys.
I don’t know if those kids were charged with anything, but personally, if I were of any personal relation to Victoria, those are the punks I’d be after.
The actions portrayed by these young women make me dread putting my child in school…which will eventually have to happen. However, the fault isnt just the girls, it is the parents. From the video its obvious they were in a house, no? I have a feeling the mother of the girl who’s house this was, was sitting in the background watching the whole thing or at least knew what was going on. So we have to ask ourselves…shouldnt the parents be faulted as well as the children who commited this crime? When reading the comments here it seems pretty obvious what the problem is. Most of you (not all) feel that the punishment the 8 teenagers should get should be much more severe then the crime they commited. (death penalty, raped in prison , max jail time etc.) This seems to be typical in USA, you seem to have difficulties finding punishments that fit the crime, just as the cheerleeders who thought a hard beating was a just punishment for trash talking someone on Myspace.
I think the 8 teenagers should be punished but I would be looking at a more appropriate punishment.

This forum is a clear example of the core issue in this matter - First Amendment.
I do not have to agree with the person above who actually believes the young lady got what she deserved. I do not have to be happy with those who post remarks about having sex with these young women or beating on anyone. Really, my approval is irrelevant.
That First Amendment protects the American freedom to speak as they will. It has been stretched to the snapping point by calling it “freedom of expression”; this is, indeed, the aegis (that is a word, folks; look it up) behind which the defense will stand in this case.
My father was very clear on one thing - my rights stopped at the end of my fist and started at the tip of my nose. These young women have breached that gap and should be punished for it. Their parents should be fined heavily for failure to raise civilized offspring. Young Victoria has, I think, learned her lesson - make your words soft and sweet, for you may have to eat them.

I think this video is SICK!
This is nothing new. Unless there was a hell of a lot more that happened to her, this is nothing by comparison to what I witnessed as a kid. I witnessed a dozen or more way worse beatings when I was in school in the 80’s, some with bats, boards, etc. Numerous beatings took place with dozens to even hundreds of students and sometimes coaches and teachers watching and doing nothing. The only difference is that no one had cameras, internet, youtube, etc. to show everyone and cause a national freak out.
I don’t know the whole story and none of you do, but all the people I witnessed get beaten back in the day had it coming and that was why everyone let it happen and just watched. Again not saying that is true here, but we should all try to learn more about it before making assumptions base on limited media BS and propaganda.

For someone who works at a middle school, you’re grammar and spelling are horrible. I call bullshit.
I hope they get the maximum sentence and end up in prison even if only for a lil bit those girls think they are badasses i hope they get there ass beat while in jail or prison see what they think of it then stupid cunts
I remember being the victim of some girls at the bus stop using me for a punching bag. Everyone of the people present or who knew of this plot to attack this girl should be held equally responsible for the beating.
If any of these kids walk away from full responsibility because they did not touch the girl it will send a message that as long as you just watch or plot or plan you are innocent. These girls and the two boys should be used to set an example to any other teens who think its alright to batter or bully anyone.
I can’t understand how someone can just beat someone like that. I remember one time this kid wanted to fight me. I knew I could destroy him. So after school when I showed up to the fight he got scared. I didn’t have to do anything. I even felt bad for him. He started to cry. I wouldn’t have hurt him anyway. I was really just wanting him to leave me alone.

I saw the video of this girls assault and i have to say ive never been so disgusted in all my life. I however would not blame Youtube and Myspace. People have argued that this video was made by those girls to try and impress people or for fame or what ever. But how impresive is being sent to jail? This is extremely disturbing to me especially because I was a victim of bullies in school. I had to be home schooled after 9th grade because I was afraid for my life. 2 girls threatened to kill me and even followed me home once. All because they were jealous. I never did ANYTHING to these girls and they wanted me dead. This is VERY common in the school I was going to. Noone would help me or do anything about it so I had to leave before it got any worse. I want these girls to go to prison and then we’ll see who is laughing. I’m so afraid they are going to get out on probation and just get a slap on the wrist. These girls need to go to prison for life for what they did.

Listen. Bottom-line, this was cruel, inhuman, and evil. I don’t know what instigated this, but it is very irrelevant. The people in this video should be tried as adults, because they committed ADULT crimes of the highest degree. Hopefully, justice WILL be served, and they will be locked up for a very, very long time. I am 19, and I am in absolute SHOCK at what people my age (and younger) have come to. Alright, enough…before I start, I’ve read virtually every post and I understand that this has fueled emotional feelings from all standpoints. I will also comment on the two popular themes of opinions posted, however, I do have to state that I’m somewhat saddened by the fact that many of the posts are virtually illegible in trying to convey what is being communicated. Typos, bad grammar, etc. Come on people, you’re exposing yourselves to others when you comment…have some self respect! Perhaps a problem in and of itself in the US?
Also to preface, I am a 32 year old male from Illinois who grew up in a good family environment and home, but I’ve also had a myriad of life experiences, including physical altercations (both self initiated and undesired; both on the winning and losing end). Long story short, I know how to give AND receive an ass kicking. I also served in the military, and I’ve been able to see perspectives from a multicultural and varied demographic point of view. I am educated and degreed, but still able to benefit from my ’street smarts’. I am not Caucasian, African American, or Hispanic.
At any rate, the first ’side of the coin’…
I do see and agree, IN PART, with some of the ’she got what was coming’ statements. Now, I don’t think physical violence is warranted, but people should realize that if they voice their negative opinions about someone else, there may be a confrontation/repercussions. It just so happens that typically, civilized society is able to intelligently reconcile their differences without violence (or at least agree to disagree). I have not seen what comments were posted to instigate this whole debacle, nor do I know how Victoria presented and carried herself in previous interaction with the others involved. Perhaps she was the instigator?
Now on to ‘the OTHER side of the coin’…
I, as well, am of the persuasion that one should ‘handle their own business’. I’m a firm believer of handling issues with those you have issues with. Meaning, individuals should go to the source first to resolve things, and not involve others unless necessary. In this case, the ‘posse’ is who I’m referring to. Violence is never the answer though, and violence leads to violence, which we’ve all seen here from your comments. I sympathize with Victoria for this fact, and she should never have had to endure such a travesty. I hope we all can learn from some of these horrific events that are occurring nationwide.
In closing, I will also say, I agree it is not the parents’ faults entirely, per se, but society as a whole. We ALL need to do a better job and our parts in being accountable for our actions and how we impact others, including our children.
Finally, for those that may not have understood what I’ve written above…fuck ‘em all for even attempting to intrude in our lives with this sad ass bullshit. Arbor Day is coming up…they should go plant a fucking tree or do something productive rather than wasting my mother fucking tax dollars on their dumb shit jail time.
So much more stupidity to comment on, but I’ve wasted enough of MY life on this.
