After posting video footage of the beating she endured, we’ve been fairly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Florida teen Victoria Lindsay from all you concerned and outraged grammatically-challenged creative spellers out there. One reader, Fawn, would like our help in getting personally in touch with Victoria’s family. Read her email, after the jump:
I am looking for contact information for Victoria Linsay, I feel so badly for this poor young lady and feel so full of rage about what happened to her by these cowards. She was set up and was beaten so badly. I would like to offer any kind of support to this young lady. I have a 11 year old daughter and an 18 year old daughter who felt so horrible about this incident. Please forward me an address or po box so that we may send her a card expressing our feelings about this and how it’s affecting us all the way in Minnesota. This young lady is brave and courageous and deserves some positive attention. I cried so hard when I saw this air on TV and am still very emotional about it. I would like to know how she is doing and if she is getting appropriate services to deal with her recovery from this. My daughter and her entire class had to discuss this as a school project and many of the students were enraged about the entire incident. After Victoria recovers this young lady should consider speaking at my daughter’s school about her experience. We all will be praying for her recovery and strength.
It’s amazing to us how the internet has made it so much easier for people to feel connected to a complete stranger. Take the Thomas Beatie story, for instance. Not only do people feel free to express their opinion without self-censoring or regard for prudence or etiquette, in due in no small part, we’re sure, to the ability to remain relatively anonymous, but they’ve written accounts on Guanabee to Thomas Beatie personally [Ed. note: Why? Because he’s… always chilling with us at Gbee HQ? Do you guys, like, imagine Cindy and I taking turns rubbing cocoa butter on his belly? Because I do…], both to express their support and voice their disdain.
Here, for example, are some comments we’ve received about our Victoria Lindsay coverage:
Well maybe some eno will pay them back and the to boys who were look outs if so please put it on you i would pay for a ticket to see them all get the shit beat out of them all.

There is a lot of passion around this horrific incidence. Each of us has an obligation to do what is right. Take your passion to make a difference in this world. Pray that God will work in the lives of each of these individuals - Victoria, the girls & boys involved, the parents, the school system, the internet and our communities. I pray that this video be removed from all websites, computers. I urge everyone to not put Victoria thru anymore pain by the viewing of this video. Viewing the video only encourages this behavior more. You can make an impact one act of kindness at a time. Pass it forward!

On the youtube video it stated that there were two teenage boys standing gaurd outside, I’m guessing to make sure she didn’t get away. As an 18 year old male all I can say is that is about the most cowardly, despicable thing I have ever heard of in my life. Either one of them could have easily stepped in at any point and gotten that girl out of there, but neither did. To me that’s just as bad as if they were inflicting the beating themselves. Even worse because they’re guys. I don’t know if those kids were charged with anything, but personally, if I were of any personal relation to Victoria, those are the punks I’d be after.

I go to school with Victoria Lindsay and yeah i feel sorry for her but if you really knew how she really is you would not feel so bad. No one deserves to get beat up like that but it is kinda her fault. Also the girls who beat her up are really dumb i know some of them because they were in my class so yeah i think they should get trialed as adults cuz that was so stupid what they did.

Anyway! If any of you would like to share contact information with Fawn, please send it to us [tips@guanabee.com] and we’ll make sure to pass it along. Additionally, please stop posting contact information for the girls and guys involved in the beating. Don’t perpetuate assholery.

I feel bad for the girl but really I’m over it. Regardless if she provoked the situation or not it seems that people are forgetting that this happens all the time. The difference is these kids think its “cool” to video tape it and put it on the net. So in result the beating has sturred wayyyyyy to much attention. People get “jumped” all the time its basically the same thing. Kids and adults act that way, sadly. It sucks for the victim but its reality people!

I think it’s a terrible thing that happened to this girl, but honestly, if these girls were all Latina, would anybody give a shit?
Posted by ChupaCaBrooklyn | April 10, 2008
I dont care how a person really is . No one deserves to get beating up like that. What ever happened to one on one with proper back up if someone else got involved. Obviously these other girls didnt feel confident in the fact that they could take her one on one. That is why they gang banged her. Cowards… An I hope ever single one of them is charged as adults….

AN I THINK PEOPLE WOULD GIVE A SHIT IF HTEY WHERE PURPLE… RACE HAS NOT GOT A DAMN THING TO DO WITH HOW PEOPLE FEEL.. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD TAKE A SISTURATION LIKE THIS AN TURN IT INTO A RACE ISSUE… JEESH.. GIVE IT A REST.

I just think it’s simply ridiculous

i believe the parents of these 8 suspects should also be prosecuted for the neglect they perpertrated on their own kids by not teaching them better morals and values then to so disrespect and harm Victoria Lindsay. The kids were violent and either spoiled rotten or severly neglected also. Perhaps the parents of the suspects will have to simply have a financial ruin for their own failure.
There are consequesces for actions, I just hope the courts do justice to the victim!

When I saw the video on the Today show I was outrage to see this young teenager getting brutally beaten like an animal. My heart ached so much that I wish I could send Victoria a card to show that I care even though she doesn’t know me. My heart also goes to her parents. I hope those girls get what they deserve especially when they didn’t show ant remorse. Parents need to teach kids morals and values, also getting involved in what there into.

@linda:
Well, Linda, I’ll up you one and say if this was a bunch of young men, nobody would give a shit. To say that race isn’t a factor on how much press this is getting is just naive. 19 y/o Samantha Padilla got shot on the 110 Freeway in L.A. yesterday. Were you aware of this?
Posted by ChupaCaBrooklyn | April 11, 2008
I pray that Victoria will come to a place where she is stronger and more powerful than ever. I pray that she won’t consider the world to be this cruel and that she will separate those 8 kids from the good people who are out there. They are few and far between, however, they do exist. She is an Angel and was put in a pack of wolves. I’m sorry for her experience and I know I speak for MANY when I say “I wish I were there. I wish I could have given a punch or two back. I would have done everything possible to protect you”. Victoria, there are kids all over the world with similar experiences and were’nt video taped. Please come to a place where you can speak out for these victims and stop these heartless crimes. God Bless and I’ll be waiting for your interview on Oprah.

I hope the victum, Victoria gets better. This was too brutal for just some minor comments on Myspace. At the very least it should have only been one on one. In the video, the girl is trying to leave and not even given the chance because three of the assailants are blocking. They are even beating her as she’s trying to leave. That’s just outrageous. There should more laws to prevent the showing of humiliating events like these on the internet. I saw on the news one of the accused’s familys has even enlisted a sleazy media lawyer. I hoped those charged are also convicted.

I really dont understand why people are thinking way too much into this…about the racism… if you think no one would care, do it, tape it and post it on the internet and shut the hell up.
It doesnt matter what color she is, how she really was, or what she did. Maybe they could have hit her once but no one deserves to be beaten like that. By the way they were kicking the crap out of her you would think she killed someone.

(but dont really do it, that was just a metaphor)

Well, what ChupaCaBrooklyn is true. Pretty White Girls have more TV/CNN/etc broadcasting power. Thats the reason why the vid is so popular, it draws viewers to the TV who in turn watch the high cost
Toyota Commercials. Seriously, it all comes back to the dollars. If it was a group of Latino or Black chicks, the viewing public would say “”“oh well, thats what to expect from a bunch of ghetto home girls”“”. But the Suburban Pretty White Cheerleader has a special shock value, one that brings money to the broadcasters. I will say this…. White/Black/Latino/etc girls gang beating another girl is very disgusting, sickening to watch. My point still stands, White Cheerleaders bring more media attentions.
Posted by jose | April 25, 2008
Well, there was a 22 year old white girl that was found dead from being shot did you hear about that one? The only reason you even heard about Victoria is because they were stupid enough to tape in and post it on the internet.

Well, about video recording fights and posting on the Net, consider these recent CNN broadcasts:
>> some months back a cell-phone video of an arabic 17 year old girl getting beaten/stoned to death in her village for loving a 17 year old boy from another religion
>> some months back some black girls recorded a girl beating, good samaratin driving by in his car stopped the fight
>> last month 6 cheerleaders beat up Victoria
See, all had air time on CNN. Arabic, Black and White. All had the vids posted on the net. But I firmly believe the reason that Victoria’s beating is getting so much more attention is because it hits home with White America. Of course we expect muslims to stone a girl to death. Of course we expect some ghetto black chicks to beat a girl down. But… we really do not expect cheerleaders to act like pitt-bulls and maul another girl. Its shock value, and CNN knows it. It draws more viewers, and of course CNN profits from it. That same girl-beat-down video from those black chicks did get some attention, true. But that black-on-black-girl-video simply cannot capture the media attention the way Pretty White Cheerleaders can. I bet most of you already forgot that video of the black chicks, right? I didn’t forget it, because it was disgusting and horrible to watch, just like the Victoria attack.
See, the news doesn’t help. They make money from Victoria’s suffering. Poor Victoria, I don’t care what she said about those other cheerleaders, she didn’t deserve that kind of beating.

I can see both sides of this debate. I grew up in a bad neighborhood of Chicago and recently moved to Iowa. (Huge change) Im not sure however that ALL of this media coverage is based on Victoria being white or female for that matter. I believe its the shock it created within the community. I can say first hand it is shocking to hear of a heinous crime in a small town. In the bigger cities it is more common and less “interesting” to the public. It is a dream of us to believe a person’s religion, race, gender, age, and even sometimes money wont offer more “interest” throughout the nation. I think both sides have great points and its a hard subject to side with. We can only teach our future this isnt right, it shouldnt happen, and if you chose to do so you will be facing consequences.

Yep, pretty damn gross —-
You six abusive a-hole girls —- you could have just given her a few bitch slaps for temporary redness - no other injuries. Im not advocating violence at all, I’m just saying at worst it could have been 3 or 4 slaps. Yeah — you six would have still gotten arrested, but it would have been under breach of peace / probably would’ve been nollied out of court as a little cat fight. Victoria would have learned her lesson about trash talking (if thats even what she really did) and you six a-hole girls could then be proud of yourselves like the queenie-cheerleader-demons you truly are. Heh… enough wasn’t enough for you… aye? You six filthy beasts gave yourselves good jail time over this Victoria stunt. Idiots. It would be pretty cool if you six girls got some good vigilante justice in prison… example… big mama serving you girls a good smelly luvin…. ahhh, you’ll probably end up liking it. You should make some good friends in womens prison, so actually you six chicks can look forward to a good life pleasing skank women behind bars. You six girls really really suck. F.U. All

oh, another thing… a lot of people like the sheriff are saying the beating was “animalistic behavior.” In all honesty, animals don’t really do things like that. In the wild they hunt their food, or dogs will attack for protection or if taunted. But only human beings have the planning capacity for this
>> Plan / Coordinate / Capture,
>> Forced car kidnap
>> 30 minute repeat tag-team torture
>> gloat / preen / laugh about beating
Guys, I know you all mean well by calling this “animalistic behavior.”, but in truth, animals are not really capable of that level of brooding evil.

I feel so sorry for what happened to Victoria and I think that it is just gross and disgusting that youtube would allow people to put such horrible video on the internet, I think that is irresponsible. They should start to screen all the videos that people want to put on there website. I would like to get a contact address or email to tell Victoria how my heart goes out to her. Please send it to my email preciousdynasty87@hotmail.com

No matter what a person says or reguardless of who they are whether they be snob of the town or b**** of the century NO ONE deserves this!!!!!!!
Imagine if it was you and your hearing and vision may be permanently damaged which could have so been preventable!!!!! you wouldn’t be saying tough apples then and no it doesn’t happen that often where people get jumped for 35 minutes and it causes irrepairable damage for the rest of your little life. Not only will she always remember and be affected but she will have to learn to live with the consequences of these ugh… whats the word for them animals yes thats it sick animals, their not humans they don’t have any heart!!!

The word COWARDLY does not begin to describe it. If you want to see the eyes of evil, look into these girls’ eyes. 8 people beating 1 person? Over what? Some stupid little thing I’m sure. I’m sure their punishment will be much less than they deserve. These are BAD people. Straight up. BAD. They will only grow up to make this world a more hateful place. Thanks a lot bitches.
