President Vladimir Putin has divorced his wife Ljudmila in order to wed 25-year-old former gymnast Alina Kabaeva. They’re both very flexible people, you see:
Alina Kabaeva is 25 years old, Russian gymnast who has had major success on the international stage including Olympic gold in Athens.
She is considered one of the most beautiful Russian woman, and in 2007 entered the Russian Parliament as a member of the “United Russia” party.
According to sources, Putin and Kabaeva are more ‘than friends’ since 2000. Putin (56) has two daughters with Ljudmila, 23 years old Marja and 21 years old Katerina.
United Russia Par-tay! Woo! We do hope they have a long and fruitful marriage based on mutual love and respect. And hot, bendy gymnast sex.

See? This is what I love about everywhere in the world that isn’t the US. If a US politician left his wife for a 25-year old contortionist, that would be bad enough. Let slip the little gem that they’d been “more than friends” for 8 years (putting my public-school education to work, that makes her 17 when he starts hiding his kalashnikov in her sable) and they’d be thirsting for his blood.
He’d have to make a tearful appearance on daytime TV with his iron-jawed wife by his side swearing to support him and insisting that they’re going to “deal with it as a couple.” A couple that will now include a 25-year old contortionist, like all happy couples do.

What is it with sleazy Eastern European dictators and gymnasts? I remember reading a Nadia Comanechi biography that said at the height of her gymnastic career, her life was just about threatened unless she put out for the Romanian president or his sons or some such. I guess they believe they can have anyone they want…
