Just when we thought we could not love this man anymore, newly re-elected Spanish prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero appoints Carmen Chacón, 37, (pictured) as defense minister of Spain. But the real news is that she’s 7 months pregnant. That’s right, “mujer y embarazada de thiete methes!” But despite the progressive PM, not everyone in Spain is so open-minded, “Would you think it was okay in the United States if some pregnant chick who doesn’t know anything became Secretary of Defense?,” some Spanish asshole asked NPR. Actually, we’d hate that because we won’t be happy until there’s no need for a Secretary of Defense. Put that in your jamon and smoke it, amigo. Zapatero’s cabinet now has nine women in it, making it majority-female with one woman, Bibiana Aído Almagro, 31, holding the newly created office of Minister of Equality whose brief is to “promote the progress of women across Spanish society and to fight the scourge of domestic violence.” Um, this dude kind of rules.

Actually it’d be “mujer y embarathada de siete meses” since the letter s is pronounced like, well, an s. It’s the “c”s and “z”s that are pronounced with a “th”

Zapatero would be ‘out-liberaling’ himself because he’s not necessarily a liberal, but a socialist.

unless, of course, the quote was jotted down somewhere in the province of Sevilla. (which it clearly was.) here, the people love nothing more than to “thethear” by lisping basically everything.

i saw a fluff piece on the local news the other day that closed on the fact that Chacón’s ceremonially-bequeathed briefcase had the word ‘ministrA [de defensa]‘ on it. clearly these women folk have gone too far.
