Amy Winehouse, who is Jewish, has taken to wearing a rosary as a necklace while visiting her Roman Catholic husband, Blake, in jail in between getting high and headbutting strangers in the street:

The troubled singer, 24, has started wearing rosary beads and has turned to the Roman Catholic faith in a show of solidarity with Blake — who’s locked up in London’s Pentonville prison accused of assault and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

It was recently revealed that Blake, 25, has a daily meeting with the prison chaplain as he awaits trial.

A source said: “She was given the rosary beads by a friend and wears them in devotion to Blake.

We remember when Madonna was doing this too, long before cameltoes and Being Old were her trademark looks. Anyway. Query: If you happen to be Catholic, are you offended when people use rosaries as fashion accessories? Or do you not mind because you’re convinced there’s already a special area in Hell reserved for celebrities? That’s maybe just full of agents informing them they’re going to star in a Lifetime movie opposite Corey Haim?

Perhaps La Eyeliner (who seems to be going incognito in this shot) could embrace a shirt?

All I know is that Rosaries aren’t necklaces, and enough people I know don’t know that–hence there are a lot more people other than Amy Winehouse wearing Rosaries around their necks when they shouldn’t be–, so I doubt there should be repercussion for those who do. The only people who really know what to do with a Rosary are women like my “abuelita” with beads wrapped around their hands in the middle of a “velorio” reciting Hail Mary’s and Our Father’s in particular order, in a collective trance.

Yeah, I know, probably not the only way to pray the Rosary, but the most prevalent image in my memory.

i’m fine with this. i mean, they allow a guy in a dress wear it and he allowed state sponsored pedophilia.

It doesn’t offend me in any way when i see someone wearing a rosary around their neck, it just makes me want to ask why… i just dont like it when people use it as their symbol to their faith.
I know this guy who wears a rosary and that bracelet with the santos on it, which i think they sell at anchor blue[weird], but he hasn’t been in a church in like 5 years. or like in amy’s case …if you want to show blake your devotion to him by his religion why dont you go to church and pray for him because wearing a rosary and not using it for it’s purpose isn’t going to do anything.
I actually do know how to pray the rosary (surprisingly for only being 22 yrs)and I do carry a rosary with me but it’s kept safely in my purse.. it’s not something that should be hanging inbetween my boobs.

where’s this photo from? she walks the london streets horrified, half naked, and alone? looks like an enormous billboard on the sunset strip or at houston and lafayette - the latest calvin klein campaign.
