We’d never say that fresas listened to Kid Frost back in the day, or anyone in Latin America, for that matter. (So don’t write in!) But when we came across this video for “La Raza,” we couldn’t resist posting it. There’s some cheese that just gets better with age.
Wow, so “raza” and “heritage”=low riders, west coast gangsta style, girls in baggy bikinis (ugh), grafitti, and random shots of multi-colored Aztec calendars? No thanks.
to bad, i was raised in a bubble listening to los tigres del norte and the doors in my household as a kid. in high school i was listening to kid frost, the brownside, lighter shade of brown, and lil rob. MTV wasn’t playing anybody that looked like us. There wasnt any brown on MTV until that latin explosion in the late nineties with mr ricky martin livin la vida loca. So yeah nowadays its a different story, but back then I jammed all my chicano music with pride simply because it was nuestra gente in my tape player. not a black rapper rappin his life but a chicano rappin about the shit i grew up with. I really dont relate to black rappers nowadays either, to much trash on the radio. rapping about their BLING gets old. hell, i dont even listen to the radio anymore. too much reggaetton going the same direction also. BUT i did get that Leona Lewis CD because she can sing her ass off after seeing her on that UK talent show. bumiping that cd currently in the caddy. lol
