<description>#18 is now on the way. I'm hoping the child is ok and not Downs syndrome-- Michelle is now in her 40s. It isn't funny anymore. I guess making a career out of producing children is just one more job choice, but honestly, for most people, two or three is enough these days. I never thought I was being immoral by limiting the size of my family. I wanted to give the children I did have the music lessons and orthodontal work and university educations that I knew they needed. Then there's the little question of an overpopulated world and why any couple in their right mind would choose 18 children and a life of shopping in thrift stores over a more conventional life. You can be religious without having a baby every 18 months of your life, and it's nice if your kids can meet other young people who are different from themselves and occasionally buy a new pair of shoes. The Duggar children appear to be happy and well-fed and cared for, but hey, most of the caring is done by the oldest four or five daughters, along with cooking, laundry and sewing. Maybe they should have some time just to be teenagers. I don't really know. I raised my own kids the way I thought best and they turned out just fine without having fifteen brothers and sisters. In any case, the oldest Duggars won't even know the youngest. Presumably they'll go off and get married and leave the huge dorm-style bedroom that they share with the same gender all the way down to age 18 months. Guess I'm just saying that there might be more to this story than is presented on TV.
