Paula Abdul Was “Not” “Drunk” On “American Idol,” Wink Nudge

According to her publicist, Paula Abdul’s drunken buffoonery on “American Idol” was not a result of her being drunk. Even though she was drunk:
Paula Abdul was not drunk at Tuesday night’s American Idol, despite a TMZ.com report that blamed booze on her strange performance.
The alcohol claims are “absolutely not true,” her rep told Usmagazine.com in a statement.
TMZ.com says the judge was “bubbly” after “at least one martini” at a lunch at Maggiano’s restaurant in L.A. four hours before the show began.
But Abdul had another explanation for why she commented on two of contestant Jason Castro’s songs – when he had only sung one.
Rabies?
“It got very confusing,” she told Entertainment Tonight after the show wrapped.
She explained: “The producers come up to us in the dark and said, ‘We are not going to have you guys judge after each performer, we are going to have all the performers go once, then twice and at the end critique them.’”
In the dark? But, yes. Directions are often very confusing. When you’re a lush.

omg.. could people just live this poor woman alone. she made a mistake. she didnt hurt anyone, she just got confused for a moment on live TV. it isnt a big deal. especially since she was perfectly fine for the rest of the show. and just look how she was in the result show. she was clearly very sad over the situation. time for the media to move on and leave Paula alone
Can’t….leave…her….alone. Must…mock…the Abdul….
How can “hey” say she was fine the rest of the show? Or the next day? Or any particular time? Has there ever been a baseline “fine” behavior for Paula Abdul. To me, it’s just been crazy, drunky, and loquita en la cabeza. And usually all three together. (Yeah, I know it’s kind of redundant…she’s DRUNK! She repeats herself! She repeats herself! Hic! ) Why does her glass say “coke” on it? Clearly, her drug of choice is a hallucinogen.
I read the first sentence of hey’s comment and it reminded me of this horrible joke my brother likes to tell:
Q: What did one Latino say to the other while fighting to keep his woman?
A: “Liver alone, cheese mine!”
