Las Vegas producer Stephen Sorrentino, who also happens to be an Elton John impersonator, is debuting a new show in Dallas today. “Superstars Latinos” features some of the finest impersonators of Latino stars that are easy to impersonate:
The high-energy, 90-minute musical is a tribute to Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin. It features singers backed by an eight-piece Latin band.
“It’s English and has shades of both Spanish lyric and Spanglish,” he says. “Two of the cast members speak fluent Spanish, so there will be a blend. Though this is a Latin show, all these artists are huge in the American/English-speaking market.”
Sadly, none of the impersonators are little people. Or robots. Or little robots. So we’ll skip this. But we’ve got to wonder just how realistic these actors’ portrayals of Latino stars will be. For example, will the Jennifer Lopez impersonator will devour the hearts of virgins in an attempt to gain eternal youth, while farting fire? Oh, ha! Oops again.
