An American hiker named Jessica Bruinsma used her sports bra to signal a rescue party after she fell about 16 and a half feet to a rocky overhang, where she spent over two and a half days on a precariously narrow ledge, awaiting help:

Berchtesgaden police officer Lorenz Rasp said that he helped lift 24-year-old Jessica Bruinsma of Colorado state to safety by helicopter on Thursday after she attracted the attention of lumberjacks by attaching her sports bra to a cable used to move timber down the mountain.

“She’s a very smart girl, and she acted very resourcefully,” said Rasp. “She kept her shirt and jacket for warmth, but thought the sports bra could work as a signal.”

Sports bras can save your life. Ask anyone’s who has had to run cross country next to a teammate with a pair of double D’s. This is exactly why we don’t pursue any outdoor activity other than hailing the occasional taxi. Sometimes also using a bra as a signal. Wink, nudge, weareslutty.
