The New York Daily News delves deeper into comments United States Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez (D-NY) made yesterday at the New York congressional delegation conference call with Hillary Clinton regarding Barack Obama’s lack of Latino love. Her solution? He needs Honorary Brown Hillary Clintón on his ticket:
For whatever reason, it seems to me that there is a problem of connecting with Latino voters from the Obama camp […] So, we don’t have much time to make up when November is here. And I think that Hillary will be able to strengthen the ticket.
For whatever reason like, Latinos don’t love a Black? But the really fun part of the Daily News interview is when reporters ask Representative Velasquez if she thinks anyone else, at all, in the whole wide world could replace Hillary Clinton on the ticket as Obama’s about as likely to ask her as Gabriel is to make out with a girl.
Asked if anyone other than Clinton might also be able to help Obama with the Hispanic vote, like New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, himself a former presidential candidate and the nation’s only Hispanic governor, for example, Velazquez bristled a bit at the suggestion.
She said Richardson’s endorsement, which came in March, did not significantly help Obama with Hispanic voters.
“Bill Richardson is not running for president,” Velazquez said. “And after Bill Richardson endorsed Obama, he lost support in the Latino community. (Clinton) continued to win.”
Oh, snap! Richardson will be crying himself to sleep tonight on a pillow made of Wonder bread and mayonaise for that one.

Lulu: Nydia represents part of Queens and Brooklyn, as well as the Lower East Side, not Washington Heights. But nice stereotyping there, my dear.
