We don’t keep up with Don Imus’ show mainly because it’s so boring that even he himself sounds as though he’s about to fall asleep during it. Which may explain why every once in a while he needs to say something racist about a Black athlete to wake people up. This year it’s in reference to Dallas Cowboys cornerback and all around fuck up Adam Jones. We’ve got the audio after the jump.

During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Imus asked, “What color is he?”
Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones, who used to be nicknamed Pacman, is “African-American,” Imus responded: “There you go. Now we know.”
Now, if that came from anyone but Don Imus, he of the nappy headed ho-ness, you might not jump to the conclusion that he meant it in a racist way.
“I meant that he was being picked on because he’s black,” Imus said in a statement released by his spokesman.
This would makes sense if Don Imus didn’t have a horrible track record of saying crotchety, old White man things that no one calls him on because there are enough crotchety, old White men in this country who like to listen. So, you should probably listen to the audio yourself and make your own decision. And then call him a wannabe cowboy shithead in the comments.

The issue of race didn’t even need to come into the story, to be honest. And then for Imus to follow up with a statement about Jones being a “nice kid”… well that’s just patronizing. Regardless of Jones’ color, if he broke the law he should be arrested. Just like everyone else in this country.

He said he was being “sarcastic”. Well, he should know by now that sarcasm does not work for him. There were so many better ways he could have asked and expressed and made his point. He is just dunderheaded and obnoxious and will never change.
