One thing that was strikingly obvious last weekend at ¡Pachanga! Latino Music Festival is that Latinas are out in full force in the independent music world. And nowhere was that more apparent than with the band in the above video called La Conquista who may look like the Spice Girls, but actually compose, produce and perform their own blend of fun cumbia pop. The ladies, who now reside in Corpus Christi, Texas sat down with Guanabee Editor Cindy Casares at the ME-Television studios in Austin last friday to tell her a little about their sound and the little girls who follow them around.

I would love for them to do a cover of TLC. That would be fantastic.

I think you should revise the post a bit. La Conquista are a highly produced group under the direction of Abraham Quintanilla. they have music written for them and everything they do is in the effort to be the female kumbia kings

They dress like Jem and the Holograms. I think I love them.

@Ben: actually, they left Abraham and are on their own now.

@heston: Refrain from using that sort of misogynist language or we’ll ban your ass from this site.
