The Pope Is Smoking!

Some photographer caught Pope Benedict XVI smoking an “Italian-made filter king” cigarette on Vatican grounds while he was supposed to be off praying by himself. Also, we found this on derekclontz.com, so who knows if it’s true. The funny part is, everyone (on derekclontz.com) is acting like priests aren’t allowed to smoke. Don’t they know priests are allowed to smoke? And drink? And diddle little boys? (Okay. Maybe not that last one!)
Celebrity photographer Giovanni Bertinello says the Pope extracted the fagg from a red-and-gold package “with trembling fingers” after telling aides he wanted to be “left alone to pray” in the small garden, where the famed lensman was hiding behind a ficus hedge.
“He fired it up with a yellow lighter and inhaled deeply like he knew what he was doing,” says Bertinello.

He exhaled some of the smoke through his nose, and then let the rest flow out of his mouth through his rounded lips while he thumped his cheek with a finger, creating tiny smoke rings that sailed away into space, one inside the other.
Wethinks Mr. Bertinello missed his calling as a romance novelist.
Confronted with the photograph, a second Vatican source bristled at the suggestion that Pope Benedict was smoking not like a first-timer, but like a seasoned pro.
“This is a simple case of temptation getting the better of him one time and one time only,” the insider told derekclontz.com. ”But even if he were a regular smoker, who are we to point fingers.
Uh… YOU’RE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Do your job.

If I were the papa I’d be smoking too and NOT the cigarette kind.

when i lived in Portugal, our priest smoked… i’m pretty sure it’s not a big deal.

Who cares, leave the poor man along, he is only human. He doesnt have many other pleasures in life so i say go for gold pope Benedict XVI.
