Vivir Latino Says Shit Has Gone To John Leguizamo’s Head
10 June 2008, 3:00 PM. By Guanabee Staff
Vivir Latino blogger Maegan la Mala (we’re pretty sure that’s not her real name) attended the second TimesTalks of the season yesterday. (The “Inside the Actors Studio” type celebrity forum produced by the New York Times.) Yesterday’s guest was John Leguizamo who did his best to remind everyone how far he’s come in a town (Los Angeles) he likens to “South Africa during Apartheid.” Maegan elaborates:
[...] with African-Americans in one part of the city, Latinos in another, and whites in gated communities. This, he cites, as one of the prime reasons Hollywood still makes stereotypical “crap” Latino films, filled with stereotypes.
Has he been to Manhattan lately? The Lower East Side ain’t nothing but a condo. Leguizamo’s own mouth eventually revealed that he isn’t exactly as down with the people as he might like to believe:
He constantly talked about his old stomping grounds of Jackson Heights, Queens, in a slightly negative tone, like, that was then and I’m above that. He clearly has reached a place of privilege, and mentioned his kids going to private schools and that that gave them a leg up, but it was the way he said it.
Regardless of the fact that la mierda se le subio a la cabeza a bit, John Leguizamo remains one of the most talented and diverse performer [sic] in terms of range. Maybe this allows him to be a little snotty. No se. You tell me. I left last night’s TimesTalk happy that I was able to listen to such a gifted artist, but as a person, I wouldn’t invite him into my humble Queens home.
Maegan, you of all people should know that being a successful actor gives one the right to have a head full of shit. And John, honey, the entire island of Manhattan is one, big gated community.

Woe onto travelers on their way to the Dominican Republic on Jet Blue. You’ll be stuck watching this douche on The NY Times Channel. It and Fox video will be the only stations working once you leave NYC airspace.
Did anyone see Love in the Time of Cholera. Now, it wasn’t sinlge-handedly his fault that the movie blew donkey dick but he had a huge part in screwing up one of the best books of all time. I think he’s pretty talentless when he couldn’t even shake that fucked up accent long enough for the part.
Jackson Heights is my hood… and whomever messes with my hood is not my friend… if I ever see JL I’ll spit in his face…
@ E: So I’m sure you’ll have quite a bit to say about this:

benny blanco from the bronx….
He is why I removed “Love in the Time of Cholera” from my DVD player before Javier Bardem had any notable screen time. Thanks, John… thanks a lot.
at least he was [kinda] funny in the Pest.
He actually MADE To Wong Foo, etc hilarious. If not for him, I would have turned that movie off in the first 15 minutes.
