Cool Cositas: Melissa Plastic Dreams

shoe_7.8.08.jpg

Summer’s here and the perfect time to get new shoes to go with whatever it is you’re wearing this season, from shorts and tank tops to sun dresses to… We don’t know. Glittery parachute pants? Anyway, whatever your style, the Summer ‘08 collection from “Melissa Plastic Dreams,” a really hot Brazilian shoe company, has something for you. The company describes its mission as turning plastic into “objects of desire” and “authentic sculpture.” We’re intrigued. The fun, candy-colored shoes can be found at Ihla Bela Inc. in New York City and will soon also be available for purchase through Melissa’s site. Our very favorite shoes from this season’s collection, after jump:

We love this spider-webby (we believe that’s an actual term) shoes because they’re different, look like they’d allow your feet to breath and slip right on and off. Adorable.

We love how these flats bring to mind Victorian wallpaper and that sunny yellow color makes us happy. We’d pair these with a white sun dress and a glass of lemonade.

These are probably some of the coolest-looking sandals we’ve ever seen. They really do look sculptural and would look quite awesome kicked off haphazardly at the foot of a certain someone’s bed. Yay Summer!

Cute: Kinda
Stinky: DEFINITELY!

**As a Latina/Chicana/non-Anglo residing in the USofA, I cannot relate, culturally, to a flat-shoe that is not a chancla and/or guarache.

omg i cant believe you are actually promoting the use of plastic shoes. Especially in 100 degree weather! those are so bad for for your feet. not to mention how bad they make your feet smell.
