Apropos of nothing except that we saw Mama Mia last weekend (sue us!), this week’s Friday Flatchback features obscure Puerto Rican boy band Los Chicos performing a Spanish version of—you guessed it—“Mama Mia.” The band was created in the late seventies as an attempt to cash in on all the success and panties Menudo was enjoying. And believe it or not, underneath all that hair, well one of those hairs, is Chayanne, whose real name is Elmer Figueroa Arce, (Bwah ha ha!), and who would also grow up to star in a Dentyne commercial. Oh yeah, and record some solo albums. ¡Que chevere!

Apropos of nothing except that now I have tiny synchronized Latin hair models in Mexican-restaurant waiter outfits dancing in my head, I just want to know why Kristy McNichol was dancing in the third position.

@Gwenny: I’m pretty sure it’s the one on the far left who gives the first wink. ;)

By the way…. you should REALLY post a clip from the original Menudo movie from the same time period? Or better yet… La Pandilla movie?
