Guanabee To Go: Aceite Cristal Brings You Photographic Look At Dominicanas In New York

The Dominican Republic’s unfortunately named “MercaSID” food company, which owns Aceite Cristal, is sponsoring a photo exhibit of the lives and experiences of Dominican women in New York. Don’t tell Cynthia Rodriguez:

The highly acclaimed exposition is the work of photographer, Nicole Sánchez in collaboration with Giovanna Bonnelly. The project was first launched in March 2007 in the Dominican Republic as a part of the “Walks of Life” project, sponsored by MercaSID’s “Women’s Day” celebration. The exhibit will travel to New York City and intends to bridge women’s struggles between those who remained on the island and also those who migrated, abroad - particularly to the United States, where the largest population resides outside of D.R.
