Jessica Alba Might Go-Go Her Way Through Robert Rodriguez’s Barbarella Movie

Following news that director Robert Rodriguez has split with his chronically terrible girlfriend, Rose McGowan, comes rumors that Jessica Alba will be asked to step into Rose’s go-go boots and chain mail booty shorts to play Barbarella. No:
McGowan, best known for her witchy role on TV’s “Charmed,” wasn’t thought to have enough box-office draw for the $70 million remake, especially after “Grindhouse” disappointed with about $25.4 million in domestic ticket sales.
“Too bad ‘Grindhouse’ didn’t gross $100 million. Then, maybe, ‘Barbarella’ would have gotten the green light,” said one source. “Instead, the moguls were saying, ‘We need a bigger star, a bigger name.’ ” Jessica Alba has been touted as a possible replacement.
Hm. Why does the idea of dumping one’s lady friend because she isn’t bringing you enough money not sitting entirely well with us? We shall think about it as we hand over our nightly earnings to Big Daddy.
What do you think about Jessica Alba as Barbarella? She could not act her way out of a paper bag, true, but perhaps playing a sexy crime fighter in outer space who becomes locked in an orgasm-inducing machine does not necessarily require the most refined of acting abilities. Our main beef, then, is that Jessica Alba just doesn’t really exude enough “coolness” to pull it off. She’s not funny or self-deprecating enough to pull of what might very well turn out to be a very tongue-in-cheek and knowingly kitsch role. But! Maybe she’ll prove us wrong, glittery hot pants and all.

You do mean ROBERT Rodriguez. RICHARD Rodriguez is the “Browning of America” guy who has arguments with his Mexican pansa.
The level of schadenfreude I’m enjoying right now makes it irrelevant that Alba is going to be in anything. Lovely as she is, leaving your family (wife + FIVE kids) for McGowan reeks of douchery.
Not that I think you can “steal” a man, or make him “do” anything, but: you’d think that having man to leave his family to be with you would mean a great deal. Shouldn’t it, McGowan? Even if the studios didn’t care for you. He adores you. He thinks your soul-vessel is the creamy topping, and your pouty lips are the glossy cherry on top. But wait! He’s not standing up for you? His deliciously milk-complected muse? He doesn’t want to stick up for you - because it won’t further his career?
Hmn. You’d think a man like that would have better values.
Moral of the story? Ladies, if he’ll do it to her, he’ll do it to you. Stay away from the doucheoise. That is all.
I vote for Angelina Jolie!!
I am sick of both Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba in the movies. How about Charlize Theron huh ?
Dita von Teese! Come out and show us you can act! I think she can pull off “classy but tongue-in-cheek.”
Maybe the movie sucked? yup, it did…..oops , sorry Rosie, I’m not including any innuendo…
