Music Break: Natalie Portman Stars In Boyfriend Devendra Barnhart's "Carmensita"

Did you ever think you could see someone in two kinds of brownface simultaneously? Well, here it is! Natalie Portman took the time to star in a music video for current boyfriend Devendra Barnhart’s “Carmensita.” She plays an Indian princess whilst Hindu gods dance around, looking blue. And she’s lip-syncing to the song’s Spanish lyrics! She’s like a crazy culture vulture in heavy eyeliner! We like the song but can’t really watch the video because we’re cringing pretty hard. Let us know what you think, though.

Wasn’t Natalie dating our boy Gael? Or is that like, sooooo 2 years ago?

major shit

Two overprivileged white people making kitsch out of Latino and Indian cultures. Something new and different!

This feels like it belongs on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, 3am on a Wednesday.

awww i bet she misses gael right about now, he would never do this bs

Looks like someone watched The Darjeeling Limited one too many times. I mean, I know she’s nude in that movie and all… but good grief!

If it were anybody besides Natalie Portman, that video would have been banned and caused riots in the streets of Delhi, and Edison, NJ. But luckily she devotes herself to charity and makes decent movies, and who doesn’t like la Portman? I want to turn her into a button and put her in my pocket.

It was a moving tribute…my sisters loved it.

The reason this video didn’t cause any “riots” is that no one watches videos anymore. Or airs them.

If you’re offended by anything Devendra Banhardt does, your best off spending your time yelling at trees, because he doesn’t know what it means, either. And he’s not concerned about it.

B-b-b-but it’s racist! Is it? Really? Is there no effort to frame this as a silent movie from the past, where white actors playing brown was the norm?

And isn’t Devendra Banhardt from Venezuela? Doesn’t he get a free Race Card to play?

And yeah, I know, Latino isn’t a race, but “ethnicity card” doesn’t flow.

Todos los dolores ya se van….
