We’re totally hearting this adorable blog called My Big, Fat, Cuban Family. Mainly because of this picture blogger Marta Darby posted from a recent family reunion in Miami where the whole clan tried to teach their 97 year-old tío Fernando (pictured at right) how to do the Mexican wave:
FERNANDO (with his hands obediently high in the air): “What’s supposed to happen now?”We all just dissolved into piles of noisy laughter.
I know. You just had to be there.
And THAT was the best part. We were ALL there. =D
Awww…’buelita, we miss you! Marta also posted directions for great Cuban coffee yesterday. And, just cuz we know you love them now, we’ve got a picture of the whole clan doing the wave after the jump.

bazooka joe,
The move we call “the wave” was made popular at the 1986 Olympics which were held in Mexico. Thus, “The Mexican Wave.”

@kikita, Thank you for that.
I was confused cuz my familia is mexican and i’ve never heard of the mexican wave!

Yeah, to be honest, I only found out it’s called The Mexican Wave like a year ago, myself. And I, too, am Mexican. (Well, American.)
