Shooting From The Hip: Shakira Might Star In Her Own Reality Show For MTV

Shakira is apparently in talks to get her own reality series on MTV. To which we ask: hipsdon’twhy?

Shakira makes fun music, but it’s not exactly, you know. Good. Or at least, not as thoughtful, complex and well-crafted as the work she was putting out in her “Pies Descalzos” days. Which is probably a good a reason as any to woo consumers of fluffy pop culture offerings who enjoy things like reality television series and women in leather pants. (Like us!) But…

Is the American public really that interested in Shakira as a person as opposed to Shakira, She of The Magically Gyrating Hips? And is she even that interesting? Sure, she’s accomplished, articulate, creative and charitable. But, come on! Who cares? To the best of our knowledge, she’s never been thrown out of a meth lab without underwear while wearing a neon pink wig. She’s been in a long-term, stable relationship with a man who makes fish faces at other women and has never dated John Mayer or Brody Jenner or Tila Tequila.

Why on earth, then, would she make a good candidate for a reality series? Surely, they are people who are more deserving of such an opportunity?:
