True, we now blog from a chaise lounge in the swankiest neighborhood in all of Queens while someone covered in body glitter feeds us chocolate-covered cherries. But we realize the rest of the world just doesn’t live in as luxurious a fashion. Therefore, Poors, we sometimes like to give back… by giving photo tours of the world’s most expensive house. Behold: Villa La Leopolda. Yeah, that’s right. You know a house is pretty fucking money when it has its own name.
Located near Monte Carlo, the home was recently purchased for $500 million by Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich. He just happens to be a billionaire who’s dating an oil heiress.
The house was originally built for King Leopold’s mistress, which would explain any heart-shaped waterbeds harbored within, and once belonged to some other seductress named Bill Gates.
These are just like regular stairs, only poor people don’t walk on them. Or look at them. Guys. You’re not even supposed to know they exist.
Some more Rich People Stairs. Not to be confused with Rich People Stares, which burn you.
A giant, expensive bidet.
Most expensive house on Earth, just $500M [National Post]

too many stairs. i’m exhausted.

Dear Queens,
We love it when people call us Poors. The capitalization makes us feel special inside.
Signed,
The unwashed masses

Easy comes, easy goes!!!

@Amanda: It’s funny, because the first owner of that place, King Leopold II, basically tore up an African country (the Congo) to amass his wealth. History’s funny like that.
Oh well, looks like the rest of us schlubbs will have to to settle for buying an island. Or, if you’re a Dubai-tante, you can have one built…

Don’t most houses in England have their own names?
Posted by Jessica | August 11, 2008
Amanda, why would you feed an African country? They’ll just breed, and be even more hungry after that.

I wonder how much the gardening costs.. or maybe after buying that they don’t have any money left :D so they need to do everything themselves

Why the presentative in this site is so childish?
The words that admin is using, sounds like he is 15 years old.

Roman Abramovich didn’t buy this house. The byuer wishes to remain unknown and Abramovich has informed everybody that it is not him. Neither did it ever belong to Bill Gates. The whole Bill Gates buying this house business was a rumour that didn’t turn out to be true, just as this Abramovich business.

Feeding a country, forever. Seems so futile. Most leaders are more realistic, they use arms for the money. Keeps population active, running. Also gives jobs in other economies.

house was never sold to Gates. transaction never went through. Also, I like rick people stairs. they’re softer.

Well, to be honest, it’s worth it… well almost.
There is no more comparable location than this anywhere on earth. Antwhere.

Just goes to show that even the mega rich look out of their windows to a builders crane.

I just drove right past it two weeks ago (I was camping a few km away— ha ha ha!) I wouldn’t say there’s no comparable location on Earth, but the view’s nice. Would the author care to address the contradictions to the above stated past and present buyers, as noted in other comments?
