Where will we blog when we go home for Christmas? The one Starbucks in Brownsville, Texas is a dead store walking! After announcing it will close 600 stores between now and FY09, the previously unstoppable Starbucks empire has published its list of locations touched by the grim reaper. Topping the list with the most stores is California with 88 (Hopefully Prima J will turn all that around!), Florida with 59 and Texas with 57. Our conclusion? Latinos don’t like Starbucks. The entire downloadable list is after the jump.

If Latinos don’t like Starbucks, it’s because they don’t like their coffee burnt, pretentious and overpriced.
Any place where you have to learn another language to order a coffee (tall, half-grande, wtf…) is a place that needs to go out of business.

This is a good move by Starbucks I think. It’s amazing how many stores they have. I wrote about this today too.

We have a starbucks that opened up in our college campus just last semester. I spent 7 bucks to buy one of their ceramic mugs to keep in my office, because Starbucks only charges 50 cents for refills (as opposed to 2+ bucks for normal coffee).

Of course, they got wise to my thriftiness, and the (white) manager is talking about getting rid of the refills.

NOW what am i supposed to do? Make coffee myself at home and bring it with me to work?

I am sure that starbucks is safe, because their customer base consist of college students who are spending their financial aid/grants/mom and dads money every day.

Is that **THE** Crafty Chica? I heart her!!! :)

Anyhoo… While I was in Corpus Christi this weekend, I heard they were closing 2 of their Starbucks stores and nobody seemed to care. However, when I got home (Dallas) there were actually some crazy fools protesting the closing of a neighborhood Starbucks.

There is no way I would protest the closing of a store unless it was H-E-B. I see it like this… White people will fight for Starbucks. Latinos will fight for H-E-B and fight you for that parking spot up front next to the cart return.
