“The Wumblers” Will Change The World With, Amongst Other Things, Spanish

The new pre-k show “The Wumblers” has a baritone-voiced snail in it named Rrraimundo. What more do you need to know? Oh, alright, we’ll tell you. “The Wumblers” was created by mom and pre-school teacher Laura J. Wellington and she says Raimundo the snail is one way they embrace diversity within the show. Raimundo is the sidekick and conscience–a sort of South American Jiminy Cricket–to the show’s main Wumbler, Bertram. According to the show’s website, “The Wumblers” seeks to give children a global perspective through the use of characters like, Mother Wumbler, meant to symbolize Mother Earth. Baby Wumblers are born out of watermelons and are the responsibility of the entire village. Each baby is born either pink or blue to correspond with their gender, but at their fifth birthday, their Color Changing Day, the little Wumbler takes on his or her own, special color. Awww. We want magenta! In Wumbleton, where they live, food rains from the sky only when its needed so none is wasted and a bunch of other stuff that will never happen on earth in a million years. Just kidding! It’s pretty cool that Spanish made it onto the list of things in the perfect place to live.
