BASH'd: The Heart-Warming Gay Rap Opera About Gay Bashing

If you’re looking for another musical option besides ABBA’s The Little Phantom Mermaid On Ice, let us suggest checking out BASH’d. Advertised as “Finally, a show for Homos or Homies” ( Uh, we’ve hung out at the Queer Pier and we heard quite a lot about “New York Goes To Hollywood” there, so…), the “gay rap opera” takes a look at the blossoming relationship between a Canadian gay couple — “Feminem and T- Bag” — in the Big City.

The two explain that their show is a vehicle expressing their frustration at the political climate in their home province of Alberta, Canada, which is often described as one of Canada’s most politically conservative provinces. We’re not sure why, exactly, the two leads dress in do-rags and baggy jerseys in the musical, but, then again, maybe that’s how one sings about gay rights in Canada. Or maybe it’s just so they could use the names “Feminem” and “T-Bag:”

In the video below, a tiny-voiced new reporter takes a look at the show’s creators and warns you that the show features bad language and gayness:

The show is currently playing in New York City’s “The Zipper Factory” on 336 W. 37th Street. Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 8:00 pm, Friday at 7:30 pm & 10:00 pm. You know, in case you weren’t already planning to see ABBA’s The Little Phantom Mermaid On Ice.

T-Bag.. really? they were really creative with those names.

I got to see BASH’d in previews…it seriously is an amazing show because it manages to touch upon multiple issues relevant to the gay community & society at large in a humorous way without downplaying the seriousness of said issues.

GAYS ON ICE? QUICKLY, STOP THEM! ice is too speedy a conduit to be allowed to teh gayzz!

i have a crush on the hip hop homos

The Queer Pier! I’ve been looking for a name for that place for years. Thanks, GB.
