Maybe The Internet Is Good For Something After All: Woman Diagnoses Baby’s Eye Cancer Online
27 August 2008, 3:00 PM. By Daniel Mauser
The next time you annoy the rest of us by sharing pictures on Facebook of your stupid baby being mesmerized by a piece of string, you might actually be saving its life. A woman named Madeleine Robb noticed a strange discoloration on a photo her friend posted of her child, Rowan Santos, online and took to the internet to try and find what it might be:
Suspecting there was something wrong, she went on to the internet to find out more and discovered it might be cancer.
She immediately emailed Rowan’s mum Megan at her home in Florida, America, to warn her. Within hours, Mrs Santos had taken the baby to a doctor, who found she had eye cancer retinoblastoma.
The milky shadow in the baby’s eye evidently shows up mostly in photos. So lucky Rowan’s mom, Megan, didn’t Photoshop that shit out, we guess. The baby will, sadly, probably lose the diseased eye:
Some may have to lose an eye to stop it spreading, but over 90 percent are cured with the right treatment - one of the highest success rates of all childhood cancers.
Saved! And all because her mom was kind of oversharey and her friend was a total metida.

As long as this baby has a mom and dad and was not conceived via a test tube or artificial insemination, then I send out my well wishes and prayers for the family and baby.
