TOMS is a shoe company with a very clear mission statement: For every pair of shoes you purchase, they will donate a pair to a child in need. It’s also a company that happens to be lead by a man who looks like an extra from Godspell (Which is coming to New York! OMG! Who will go with us?!). Meet Blake Mycoskie. So you’ll recognize him come the Rapture. The best way to get deep into the mind of a Messiah is, of course, through his MySpace “About Me:”
I love life. My new years resolution was to watch more sunsets. Traveling brings me clarity and makes me feel closer to God. I wish I had more time to read. I struggle with being a workaholic, but I never see it as work. I love the rush of starting a new company….I have the most wonderful family in the world, which gives me confidence that no matter what I do, I cannot fail. In the end, my life will not be remembered by how much I acquired, but what I gave away.
We’ll remember you for your shirtless-in-a-cow-boy-hat-at-sunset MySpace photo, but as you wish. On to the shoes! TOMS features some puhretty adorable footwear, including their “Split Decision” shoes:
Other designs include polka-dots, stripes, madras print and solid. Plus, they have shoes for babies. Indulge for a moment as we make terribly annoying sounds while marveling at a normal thing that happens to be small:
Eeeeeeee! SO CUTE! The prices are a wee bit steep ($49 for a pair of tie-dyed Tiny TOMS that your baby will wear about twice before she outgrows them), but keep in mind you are, in effect, purchasing two pairs of shoes in one go.
