Many are speculating that Alaska governor Sarah Palin might be John McCain’s running mate - not those Male McMen Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty or Joe Lieberman like many initially expected. And we’re personally a little mixed on the subject. Since you asked!
It’s a tad obvious that Palin was picked for her big, beautiful ovaries. Because she may be smart, she may be accomplished - but we wouldn’t know anything about that, because we’ve never, ever heard of her before. All we know is she’s a ladyperson.
So, since we’re not fans of jumping to conclusions like some of you stupid whiney trollbeast commenters (jk!), let’s try and get to know her a little better:
So, yes. We’re thrilled that Palin might join the relatively short list of women vying for Vice President of the United States. But we don’t quite care for the implication that female voters, especially former Hillary supporters, will now vote for McCain simply because his running mate is a woman. We’re all about supporting our sister-friends and the like, but we’re not blind to issues important to us, and important to many women (recent immigrants very much included) in the United States. Issues are complicated - and so are women. Let’s not imply otherwise.
Sarah Palin emerges as potential McCain VP choice [National Post]

Issues are complicated, but this election really isn’t. You’re either voting Democrat or you haven’t been paying attention for eight years. And dangling a little estrogen in front of the forlorn Hillaristas doesn’t make McCain any less Bush Junior.
But it is sure interesting to hear about anti-choice “feminists” and a gay-rights/anti-gay agenda. I thought it was too cold in Alaska for flip-flops.

The media got this all wrong. McCain is leaving his wife for this woman. Duh.

I can’t believe he’s picking Tina Fey.

um…don’t know what to think. are Clinton supporters really gonna fall for it??? Hope not.
I wouldn’t have such a big problem with “Feminists” for Life if they weren’t so weird about contraception. It would be really sucky to have her as the first woman vp and her be anit-choice. Yucky!

Sarah who?

Any woman who formerly supported HRC and would move over to McCain simply because he picked a woman for VP should have her ovaries revoked.

I agree. This is the worst kind of pandering, and the whole thing since Sen. Clinton didn’t win the nomination has left me with a bad taste.
I also resent all this attention being put on these so called “PUMA’s”, as if they are anything other than neo-Naderesque-supporting wackadoo’s, and are representative of every unhappy Clinton supporter. And in some weird sort of circular logic, it’s as if Clinton will still be blamed no matter what.
Guess what? I was supporting Clinton, and now I will be voting for Obama. My hands are tied and that’s not the way I would have liked to have it, but there it is. Anyone with any sense or logic will be doing the same. I think people are smart enough to know that we have to knock the Republican party out of their seats of power.
So call it what it is, and call anyone who’s not voting for Obama what they are: McCain supporters. Regardless of their reasoning.

Well, if you hate the McCain/Palin ticket, this might change your mind. Girlfriend is a total pothead:
“The Anchorage Daily News quoted her as saying, “I can’t claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled.” She added that marijuana was legal in Alaska when she smoked it in her youth (it is now outlawed again). She added that she didn’t like it and doesn’t smoke it now.”
Bitch, please. Marijuana is like cock. Everybody lurves it. Also, what else are you going to do in Alaska if not smoke pot or snort Tanqueray? Fuck a moose?

There are such people as “Libertarians” and there is such a person as a “Libertarian candidate for President.” I hate when people say “If people are smart they’ll do this…” but I especially hate when people go overboard generalizing by assuming anyone that doesn’t like Obama is a McCain supporter. This might surprise you, but Obama isn’t very left-wing. He’s rather moderate, like McCain.

Fat Elvis: Universal (socialized) healthcare, income redistribution (windfall profit tax), and government mandated energy conservation isn’t very left-wing? Where’d you learn your history?
I’m pretty excited about this ticket, McMILF in 2008!

Obviously in the context of my comment I was taking about Clinton-supporting Democrats.

This has nothing to do with politics, but have you seen the name of her kids? Good grief. Nothing against her kids, but I’d take the name Zuma over the names Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper or Trig any day.

For a party that’s against affirmative action, Republicans sure do a lot of it. And they do it in the only way that affirmative action can be objectionable, i.e., real merit plays NO role in their choice. Sarah Palin is against everything that Hillary is for. If you vote for her, call yourself a Republican.

I think this is a great move for Mc Cain. He did what the Dems couldnt see themselves doing with HILLYMay. All you Dems are just PSSD that you didnt have a good looking, smart, woman to put in the VP position. So live with it you got Biden! I mean really who would OBAMA choose for a woman running mate. Barby Boxxer, Jennifer Grandholm from MI , HI*LLARY?????? Obamma may not be very smart but I gotta hand it to him he didnt choose any of these winches. Vote Rep and save yourself the regrets for the next 4 years .

So logic states that McCain gets a woman to appeal to the Hillary fans and women etc. Obama gets a white man to appeal to the Democrats who still have racial issues…
What part of politics is a game did any of us lose? Certainly this Republican can see the ploy done by both candidates. Unlike most Dems here.. I have the ability to scrutinize both sides ;D

I told my elderly parents that McCain should have Condeleeza Rice as a running mate as she would do it for him… Bring in the black and female vote…I was just joking…but McCain advisors must think woman are “just as stupid and blacks ” (un fortunately a family members quote) and will vote for their “own” no matter what their own stands for. I’m from white middleclass New England and am thinking of moving to Puerto Rico to ease my aching back

Camacat you’re and idiot and a bigot.
People, let’s face it. The scary part of this whole gender/race flip-flopping is that if the Republicans win, there is a good chance that the U.S. will have it’s first female president. McCain is like 100 years old and I doubt he’ll be around the full term. When, and not if, he dies, Palin becomes the first female president. Presto!
What pisses me off about this scenario is that I would have expected the Democrats to be the first ones to sit a woman in the White House and not the Republicans.
Funny thing though, is that no matter who wins, there will either be a woman or a black man in the white house. Hurray for progress!!!
ps. Palin is smoking hot!

What ever happened to voting for the best candidate? Who cares whether they are Republican or Democrat? Look at what each candidate stands for and what you agree with and you will have your answer. Just because most of you don’t like Bush doesn’t mean you have to be anti Republican! That is just hainus and prejudice! Have open minds people! I happen to like Sarah Palin, I still have to learn some more about her but she seems to have what it takes. I’m gonna keep an open mind and see where it takes me democrat or republican doesn’t really matter, the issues do! I think the worst thing to happen in this country was to divide politics into categories there should be no such thing as democrat, republican, independent. They should all run as themselves not as a party.
