Tired of her yet? Bwahahaha, too bad! Sarah Palin represents everything terrible about political pandering (Boo Sarah!) and everything awful about media portrayals of women (We’ll stab them for you, Sarah!). In this clip, CNBC’s Donny Deutsch makes a good argument for why feminism cannot possibly be dead when there’s still so much work to be done. Why is Sarah Palin a good choice for VP? Because Donny Deutsch wants to fuck her. Sayeth The Deutsch ®:
I trust her. I want her watching my kids. I want her laying next to me in bed. That’s the way people vote.
And, well. He is partly correct. We fairly certain that many people would vote for Sarah Palin because they want to see her on their TV screens and imagining her as their wife - kind of just laying next to them in bed praying to the God of Pipelines (That’s the Old Testament God, we believe) that they won’t ask for sex.
Luckily, these people will likely be too busy figuring out how to put on a pair of pants to actually go out and vote. What gets us is that Donny Deutsch’s infantile word vomit is deemed completely acceptable fodder for a “news” show. While some of his babbling was met with eye rolling and disgusted disbelief by anchors, no one saw it fit to mention that his views were misogynist and, perhaps more immediately pertinent, completely irrelevant to any rational, adult discussion about Sarah Palin as a politician.
Why are grown-ass people allowed to use little cartoons of nutritional facts (Donny, a word of advice? There’s a fine line between speaking of someone as a produce in theoretical terms and literally talking about them as if they were a slab of supermarket beef. Please resist self-administering an enema all over that line.) and make reference to personal sexual preferences. Donny, we get it. You want to sleep with Sarah Palin. What on Earth does this have to do with her ability to govern the United States of America?

(good last question, especially after devoting a post about her trendsetting glasses)

(again, focus to the last line. are you being FORCED to post this? something makes me think “yes”)
Seriously, why post these stories and then end with, “But this is totally stupid. Focus on the issues”? I get wanting to draw attention to Deutsch’s mysoginist comment—though, aren’t there women who have loved Clinton, Edwards, and even Obama because they’re charming and presumably make charming husbands?—but to specifically comment out this he’s stupid for not focusing on the issues while posting fake photos of Palin yourself…well, it’s rather hypocritical.
I get that there’s more than one blogger posting stories, so it’s difficult to know if it’s real hypocrisy or just different points of view writing under one title, but I think it would be easier to leave off the pedantic closers or simply focus on the real issues, like you seem to be advising other news sources to do.
