David Archuleta has a crush on Madonna or Elton John and is making a video about it or something. Oh, no. Wait. He’s making a video for his single, “‘Crush,” and just happened to randomly, off the top of his head, name Madonna and Elton John as his two examples of artists with long careers. What about Cher and Bette Midler? Judy Garland? No? Anyway, David’s father, Jeff Archuleta, was, of course, on hand to lurk around the cameras and insist he’s just a father who loves his son. And Elton John. Elton John.

Smirking and jerking, after the jump:

First of all, the video is called “Crush” and not “I’ve Got a Crush”. Secondly, it is not stupid.

Might I suggest you begin stockpiling ample reserves of CROW - as that is what you and your ilk will be feasting on for many years to come by underestimating David Archuleta - and his inevitable success.

You know what’s stupid? This site and the person(s) running it.

This young man has the goods - he is a superior vocalist, has tons of natural charisma, and great musicianship. David commands your eye in this video, and your attention in every frame. In addition, he is that increasingly rare artist who delivers live. He’s on his way to great success, and his debut album in November will be on my must have’s for the fall.

David’s success is all the more sweet as Crush continues on its trajectory to becoming a major hit domestically and abroad. He is that rare artist who needs no flash or trash to sell himself, or his music. His stellar vocals, natural charisma and budding musicianship more than speak to the depth of talent in this young man’s wheelhouse. His arrival on the scene is a breath of fresh air in a stale market starved for originality. Can’t wait to buy his debut album in November - he’s a winner, and the real deal.
