A painting completed by Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez while incarcerated has just sold for $255,000 at auction. That money will go to the Socialist party. We guess someone learned their lesson after last year’s Neo-Fascist Cupcake Sale ended in tears and streaks of frosting:

Chavez ally and congresswoman Hiroshima Bravo says three Venezuelan businessmen bought the work, called “The Yare Moon,” last week.

Chavez painted it while serving a two-year sentence in the Yare prison after leading a failed coup in 1992.

It depicts a full moon through a jail cell’s barred window, and a message written in red letters on the wall below the window reads: “The mill of the gods grinds slowly!”

His other ally, Guernica Huzzah, could not be reached for comment.

Wouldn’t it have been totally embarrassing if no one had placed a bid, despite having their jobs totally in jeopardy? Awko taco!
