Ike: Little Cayenne From Galveston Is A Hot Pepper. Some Grown Men, Not So Much.

Some of the scaredy cats in Houston who emailed us in the wee hours of this morning could take a lesson from little Cayenne of Galveston, Texas. Our Tejano Hurricane Kit guy in downtown Houston wrote to say, “Now at 3:30 am, I wouldn’t walk out there without a helmet and an anchor tied to my leg. It’s more serious than I had anticipated. The Guadalupe candles are on in full effect.” And another reader wrote at 4:45 am Houston time to say, “Windows popping out of St Lukes Episcopal Hospital. All the beds pushed. Into halls.”

Meanwhile, precocious little Cayenne in the above video spent the night in a closet in Galveston, (much closer to the shore), while her parents held the door to their home closed with their bare hands. Cayanne woke up to tell CNN’s Rob Marciano, “We’re islanders! We’re the ones who survive!” If you can make it though that with your spirit intact, Cayenne honey, perhaps we can interest you in an Guanabee unpaid internship?

With a name like Cayenne, I would expect nothing less. Spunky, defiant and pepp(er)y.
