Katie Couric Gets Cindy McCain's Take On Sarah Palin, Abortion, And Creationism

Now this is interesting. We seem to hear a lot about Michelle Obama and how wonderful and lovely and loving and America-hating and stylish and smart she is, but not much is discussed about Cindy. So it was eye-opening, for us, to hear Katie Couric ask her what her views were on various topics: The vetting process behind the decision to nominate Sarah Palin, Cindy’s personal stance on abortion and whether or not creationism should be taught in schools. (Hint! Her views are probably exactly what you might have guessed.)

[Personal anecdote / full disclosure alert! We once met Cindy McCain at a party and she referred to us gorgeous. So, you know. We’re going to go ahead and love her forever.]

You met Cindy McCain at a party? Hey, Guanabee, since when did you become the bourgeoisie? Not that there is anything wrong with … . yeah, yeah, there is! It’s Cindy fucking McCain! Next thing I know you’ll be gushing about the Upper West Side and advising parents to send their kids to Loyola and waxing nostalgic about the Menendez brothers and dribbling on about how integral a writer such as Bret Easton Ellis is to the American canon and how black Yuppie Killer t-shirts are da shit y’all (yea booooy!), along with Gossip Girl and the spanking new 90210. Oh where oh where has my irreverent Guanabee gone? I know you guys are usually hit and miss, but this is pushing it. So what’s coming down the pike? You guys going to start donning Right to Life sportwear when you go jogging? Along with I Heart Huckabee ankle socks?

Just curious, is this site supporting the McCain/Palin ticket? Of all the provoking and relevent videos available - Cindy saying Palin had enough foreign policy experience because “Alaska is next to Russia”; Palin saying the war in Iraq is a “task from God”; Amy Goodman’s arrest; Palin rallying the Alaska successionist party; all the convention protests/impromptu concerts/ people fed up with the shitty state of the union and demanding to be heard; absolutely ANY highlights at all from Obama’s acceptance speech - what is up with selecting this particular clip and Palin’s speech highlights as most newsworthy? You reach a diverse audience - what is the desired result of sharing these?

I’ve been a diehard guanafan but I agree with urban latino - this site, although staffed with gorgeous, USA Today high ranked college graduates, is a world away from the awesomeness it was a year ago.

and i think i broke the comment button…sorry!

@ urban latino: It was during a wet t-shirt contest at a kegger in Scranton.

@ marytza: We don’t officially support either candidate. I don’t personally support either candidate and am not sure if I’m voting for Obama, McCain, no one or moving to Toronto.

I picked this clip because the media doesn’t usually focus on Cindy McCain and I thought it was interesting to hear her take on things. I picked it exactly because we reach a diverse audience - they can make their own decisions with the information we provide. Frankly, for that very reason, I couldn’t preach to a choir if I tried. I can’t speak for other posts on the site, but such was the thought process behind my choosing to use this clip. I’ve covered Michelle; now I’m covering Cindy.

I’m not sure what you guys are implying about my background via my college and total gorgeousness, but I don’t think this particular post voices any opinion other than:

1) Cindy McCain’s views on abortion and teaching creationism were predictable and

2) I’m easily swayed by compliments.

Can you please get Cindy’s views on the flat earth theory? Also, please get advice on setting up a charity as a front to illegally obtain prescription drugs. As far as you being swayed by a compliment, I get the joke. Lighten up, people.
But serious, get me some tips. I need them bad…
