Melts In Your Hand: Cristina Saralegui To Become M&M

M&M, the company that provides us with our daily breakfast, has a new campaign called “Inner M” (You’ve already seen commercials for it) that features TV host Cristina has a little yellow M&M. Aw! CHOMP. Says Saralegui, sweetly:
“It’s incredible to be an M&M. These chocolates are so integral to U.S. culture, and I think they really captured my personality,” said the 60-year-old Cuban-American. “I hope my little grandchild Domenic will understand that his grandmother is a candy.”
That’s real cute. It’s cool to see the company pandering to chocolate-loving Latinos by using an iconic Latina. We’ll continue to buy your delicious candy-coated chocolate confections on the daily! And, because we’re all going to develop diabetes anyway, here’s a fun recipe using M&Ms:
Jeweled Brownie Cheescake
Ingredients
3/4 cup butter or margarine
4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Mini Baking Bits, divided
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan; set aside. Place butter and chocolate in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute; stir. Microwave on HIGH an additional 30 seconds; stir until chocolate is completely melted.
- Add sugar and 3 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; blend in flour.
- Stir in 1 1/4 cups M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Mini Baking Bits and nuts, if using; set aside.
- In large bowl, beat cream cheese, remaining 1 egg and vanilla. Spread half of the chocolate mixture into prepared pan. Carefully spread cream cheese mixture evenly over chocolate mixture, leaving 1-inch border. Spread remaining chocolate mixture evenly over top, all the way to the edges.
- Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Mini Baking Bits.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until firm to the touch. Cool completely. Store in refrigerator in tightly covered container.
MAKES 12 SLICES.
12 slices? More like dinner. Haha. Sigh. Anyway. Here we are as a tacky M&M with a drinking problem:
