UPDATE: THE AD WAS REMOVED FROM YouTube BECAUSE OF AN OBJECTION FROM CBS. The commercial featured a clip of Katie Couric taken out of context from some comments she made in June criticizing some of the media’s coverage of the Hillary Clinton campaign. A CBS News spokesperson told Mediabistro blog TVNewser, “CBS News does not endorse any candidate in the presidential race. Any use of CBS personnel in political advertising that suggests the contrary is misleading.”

It seems the John McCain presidential campaign has found a way to take your mind off the fact that he knew nothing of his running mate’s soap opera-like background before he asked her to join his merry band of gunslingers. In this video, which must have been edited together feverishly last night and posted on YouTube while you slept, the Republican candidates’ official campaign connects the dots for you between Sarah Palin’s “pitbull lipstick” comment at the Republican National Convention and Barack Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” review of John McCain’s political platform. Welcome to the circus, everybody.
